That's the port NetBios runs on for Windows. Why would you want to open it? I've heard this is dangerous.

It's done through the firewall settings. Of course, that depends on whether you're using Mac firewall or a router firewall. You can run a test in Network Utility to make sure a port is open. If you are using Mac firewall, you can go to Mac Firewall support and open it from there, I think. For a router you have to go to System Preferences > Security > turn on the firewall and input the designated port. My brother knows this stuff since he has a Mac. I know just enough to get me in trouble. You can probably google more info about it than I could tell you.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Port 139 is typically used for scan to SMB, also port 445. I'm guessing that is what he has in mind. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
