    intro and question...

Well, I'm obviously a greenhorn around here, and i have one burning problem that I cannot seem to figure out. Recently we acquired a Ricoh 7001 printer replacing an old and tired Canon. My question is, how can I enable the finisher options within our server? under the accessories tab, everything is greyed out and the only message i get is [punch unit is unavailable because finisher SR 4050 is not on, finisher SR 4030 is not on, finisher SR4040 is not on...] or is there another way that I'm missing? i can go up to the copier and manually select options like stapling, but if I send any documents, i don't have that option within my properties to setup the print job. Any help would be appreciated! im not familiar with this brand at all...error.JPG

    Re: intro and question...

    Welcome!

I haven't installed many Ricoh's, but the button your looking for is called Configuration or Auto Configuration. Essentially what your asking the print driver to do is to contact the printer and get a list of the accessories installed. It's very common for less experienced installers to forget this step.

I'm a Copystar/Kyocera specialist. If this were one of those, you would go to your Printers screen. Some of this may vary depending on what operation system you're running. You'll right-click to Properties (or if Win7: double-click the printer icon, then File > Properties) > Device Settings. You would see a button called Auto-Configure to initiate.

Since this is a Ricoh, I'm sure some of the tab names may be different, but I think you get the idea. Good luck. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Just looked to see if I had this option, and to no avail....I think I need to install more drivers...? but I could be wrong. I'm in unfamiliar territory here.

Go to the printer driver in the control panel or the "printers" or "devices and printers" from the start menu. The latter is windows 7 menu system. Right mouse click and select "properties" There will be tab at the top called "accessories" Click on this and you should get a list of selectable options. Tick the boxed next to what you have installed. Then when you install the driver on each pc, this should allow access to the finisher and any other options as required.

I always tell my customers to "Make the picture of the copier on the screen match the copier" I can see by the picture you've posted you haven't added a finisher to the print driver (as everyone has been telling you)

Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.
