New to the Field. 1 Year experince

Hello, I graduated with a degree in Electronics Technology and was undecided on which field to enter. I had a concentration in Industrial Maintenance but really wanted to work with medical equipment.

After only two months of applying for various jobs, I came across an opening for a Service Technician position for a KY based Lanier/Canon dealer. This particular company was short-handed, and needed to train me fast. I was traveling all over the country to train on products, mostly Lanier. We recently were bought out by Konica Minolta and the transition wasn't that bad. I got a small pay raise right off the bat, but many people are losing there jobs(admin people, call center, etc.)

Now I am training on KM machines, and over time will be working on only KM machines when the Lanier/Canon contracts run out.
Needless to say, I enjoy what I do. The techs I work with are very helpful and patient with me. There is no monotony in this profession. I enjoy being on the road and dealing with people....most of the time.

This marks my 1 year as a tech and so far I love it. I am glad I came across this site, it looks very helpful. I look forward to talking with you all!

You probably still haven't had the light-bulb moment yet. For the first couple years we all just mostly take advice (some of us anyway). Eventually you'll be out on a call and think: "Ahah! Now I know why I've been doing it this way ... ".

It was one of a very few cathartic moments in my life.

      Welcome! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I will take that to heart, thank you! I think I have been fortunate enough to work with great techs who are willing to help. So I think so far I have came along ok.

But most importantly, I have learned that you never stop learning. Even the best techs can still be stumped at some point. Lol

I will have one those moments one day.
        Thanks
