    Server Move

We had a few issues with a server move so it took a little longer than anticipated, we're still working on it but it's starting to stabilize. We'll keep you posted.

It appears to be working okay across the pond. We had a period of 502 gateway errors here (Sat). But otherwise CTN is ticking along okay so far.

Change of IP address from old 64.50.179.133 to the
    new 64.50.170.26.
Is the IP fixed at the new address or temporary ?
So I can update my firewall cache whitelist.

We will be adding HTTPS support in the next few weeks but I'm pretty sure we'll keep the same IP address when that happens, I'll let you know if it needs to change.

The new server has been up and running for a week, is anyone seeing any problems with page loading and speed?

I just updated from XP to a new desktop with Win10 ... so I was crediting the speed improvement to my new computer.

                Significantly faster! Thanks. =^..^=

                  Re: Server Move

I'm still getting a lot of advert server redirects. Don't worry to much its on my end.

I've tracked the problem down to blatant advert hack ware in my PC.
I have a wonderful piece of turd-ware that intercepts and takes control of
one or two, well any internet protocol process an injects out going
code directly into the hijacked socket protocol. It's interesting
watching the "miners-canary" program I wrote being overlorded.

What makes matters worse is the operating system software vendors
know about it and basically can't do anything about it. The vendors introduced
the problem with their own socket sharing code into their software system
                  kernel from day one.

What was once an honesty persona programming code policy might come back
to bite them. From what I've gathered so far there can only be a major rewrite of entire
system and network code from here forward. The whole internet protocol systems are based
on a moral set of values where you-can-look but don't-touch software code mentality.

To put it in clear terms, don't put any personal information on any PC. Especially if connected to the internet. ...just my 5cents worth...

So what's going on with the new forum software? Are there some difficulties?

I'm not complaining. I'm very familiar with the old interface. Just curious. =^..^=

The migration did not go as well I had planned so after 3 days of reduced sleep we reverted back our pre-upgrade site. I did expected some level of learning curve and glitches with the new version but I think the size of the database (500k+ posts) compounded those issues making what I had tested with a little different than what I ended up with. We had a ton of broken links internally and inbound along with a few other annoying problems so I think we made the right call in the end. I'll setup a test server and see if i can get better results but for now we'll stay on our current version. We have made a ton of minor updates getting everything cleaned up and versioned up but still have a few items on the to-do list, hopefully nothing that will cause problems.

I certainly don't use all the features, but haven't seen any broken features.

                        Thanks for the update. =^..^=
