New panel messaging, chat, etc are just terrible.
Chat...WTF? I'm not chatting even with my friends. I'm grown up man.
A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

EXACTLY!
BTW: I was trying to send you yesterday a PM, but could not because of that idiotic “CHAT” crap. How can I contact you outside the panel? If you like, you may contact me here: nospam[at]rex-technika.com
Looks pretty cool to me. You can now add more than one member that will receive the message. I haven't actually sent an PM, but I did go through all the steps except for actually sending it. What am I missing?

Don't know Billy. I only know that I wanted to send TBSERVICE a PM and landed in a chat room.......
I just sent myself a message. It appears to me that even though it's called a "chat", in reality, as long you send to single user, it's effectively a PM. If you want to add more than one user, then they will all get the message. Its definitely not a live chat. It's more like a PM with the ability to mass send to many users. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not a fan of the "chat-like" features of what they call "Messenger," and seeing that others have similar complaints about useability I have turned it off. This leaves us with the traditional private message system we're all familiar with. Give it a try with the new config and let me know your thoughts.

I'm good with either. It took a while for me to get used to the new site but I'm diggin' it.
Edit: i just tried messenger w/ new config. and its exactly as you said. Everyone that is used to the traditional messenger should be pleased.

This messenger issue made me think of something. Most folks don't like change. That has been probably my number one issue when trying to sell a copier when they are using a different brand. They want something as close to what they have as possible because they don't want to learn a new machine. I can't lie, I'm not a big fan of change.

Same to me, and especially as it touches something I anyway do not need or want. That's why I HATE Microsoft's updates. One example: I use daily in W10 the address field down right in the task bar. With W11 it disappeared. WHY??
I kind of liked the ability of being able to send a PM to multiple people but. now that I think about it, it probably wasn't good idea and here's why....
From time to time I get a PM from someone who just signed up asking me for shit like firmware. These same folks could mass send the same message to every member on this site. Not good. I need to start reporting these members to possibly get them banned. I don't like it.

Or you get what happens with multi-recipient messages on social media like Facebook. Every time anybody on the recipient list sends a reply, everyone on the list gets the reply.

True. I want to give a shout out to Aneurysm. For the longest time, I didn't even know who he was. But since he implemented the new site, there have been many complaints and as far as I can tell, he has done all he could to address and correct those issues.
If I was on the Board of Directors for CTN, I'd vote to give him a raise.
