Just curious why there's no Lanier

It has been quite some time since Lanier became an official member of the Ricoh family of machines, just curious why that hasn't been incorporated into the Ricoh, Savin and Gestetner listing.
Also, the Gestetner brand got closed down for good by Ricoh a couple of years ago, but I'm sure there's enough of them still around that it probably wouldn't hurt to keep that in the listing.
    Thanks!

Re: Just curious why there's no Lanier

I haven't seen a Lanier since they were Mita re-badges. You're hearing those crickets 'cause there just isn't much of a Lanier presence anymore (if there ever was). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I put a Lanier badge on an existing Ricoh once and it never worked again!!!

As to why the Lanier name does not appear in the forum list along with the rest of the Ricoh Family Group, that should be asked of the Copytechnet webmaster.

As for Gestetner, Ricoh did not shutdown Gestetner a couple of years ago. They shutdown Gestetner-USA. At the same time they also shutdown Lanier Worldwide. Lanier was a better known name in the US and Gestetner was much better known in Europe. All Gestetner dealers who wished to stay with Ricoh became Lanier dealers. They could still sell under the Gestetner name for a while in order for them to transition existing customers.

            Good explanation, thanks.
Still, this is called "Site Feedback & Questions", that would seem to be the most appropriate place to post a question like this.
But as I've been working on Laniers since Harris totally took over 3M copiers, I suppose my take might be a little off.

I added Lanier to the RSG forum.

Re: Just curious why there's no Lanier

My company is a Lanier dealer. When we wanted to pick up another brand, Ricoh, there was already a Ricoh dealer in town. Not wanting to screw someone who had been with them for a long time, Ricoh put Lanier labels on Ricoh copiers and a totally different product line for the local market was born. That other dealer dropped Ricoh years later when they set up with a third company in our town under the Ricoh label.

That same competitor was Konica when we were Minolta, so when they became one, we had 2 KM dealers in town. Then KM set up with our largest competitor, the other Ricoh dealer, putting 3 KM's in town. The dealer that used to be Konica, the one that had been with them the longest, eventually dropped out, I think they are Cannon now.
