Lead Generating Companies ???

We currently use a lead generating company that gives us leads when someone fills out a small questioner on one of their web sites. I was wondering how many other dealers use one of these companies, and if so, are you satisfied? Also who do you use? We are currently with 360 connect, but I'm not sure how many others are out there.

I personally don't currently, nor will in the future, use a lead generating company. I have had several of them reach out to me too. My main reason is that as a consumer myself, there is nothing I hate more than to fill out a simple price request somewhere and then proceed to get non stop spam, or phone calls. You can bet these lead companies send the same leads to hundreds of competing companies. I refuse to be "One of those guys" irritating potential customers.

Am I missing out on potential revenue? Probably, but I feel better not getting involved in feeding frenzies. Just my $.02

Don't go there. It's generally a waste of money. The best leads are the ones that you're company generates by picking up the phone. There are no shortcuts in sales.

Your best lead generating comes from your existing customer base.

There are usually 2 types of salesmen that inquire about purchasing leads.

1. Green salesmen

2. Salesmen that are looking for the easy button.


Many years ago when I was a green salesperson, I traveled down this road only to be very disappointed and feeling rather foolish. As I became more experienced and worked my sales territory, I realized why buying leads is a scam.

First, leads are fluid. Information that is good today, may be worthless in a few weeks. Things change quickly. Managers get hired and fired. Purchasing agents come and go. Companies go out of business. The buying window closed. You get the picture, right?

Over the years, I heard and seen just about everything when it comes to sales. So many sales people don't want to put in the long hours of generating their own leads and they reach for the Easy Button. And there's a lot of scams out there that promise that their method will eliminate cold calling and hard work. Just remember, they're trying to sell you something.
