Downward trend of equipment sales and labor revenue

I'm noticing these two categories seem to be more difficult to grow each year. What are you doing to combat this?

Printer cartridge sales. More specifically, compatible cartridges. Free service, not including parts, if you use our cartridges.

Yes, that is a big part for me. Remans are a pain, but necessary.

Do more IT. Networking, computers, etc.. I wonder if 3d printers will be something we can make money on someday.

Be a Technology Management Company (copier/printer/network/voice/vendor services/project management). Become every customer's "go to" technology organization and coordinate any services you don't provide for the customer. Don't be afraid to bill for your services. Companies want stuff that works and people who show up and take responsibility for getting it done. Finally, document your work and obtain customer sign offs; we just lost over $1,000 because we didn't get a customer to sign off on services provided and that copy quality was acceptable when our techs left their site (shame on us for trusting a customer's word).
