    Is there a 'Pen Drill'?

I am looking for a small battery powers or electric drill. This would be for making small holes in plastic. This would be for MacGyvering out in the field. I've done several Google searches but not finding the perfect solution.

    Thanks!

This looks like it but I have no idea why a manicurist would be drilling into nails, so maybe it's not a "drill"

No, that is a mini rotary tool, it may do he job but the chuck to hold the bits might be a problem. anyway see the link below for a manual one that worked fine for me. it is small light and even drill metal.

      I think you found it.
It is a knockoff of a DREMEL tool, which can do many tiny detail tasks, including drilling.

You could also buy a tiny bit insert for your power screwdriver or carry a small self tapping screw

This should be in your kit as well. Its a nice, strait and adjustable driver. I cant see any flaw with this either compared to the Panasonic's that some techs use and cost three times as much!!!
We use one around the shop too. Its rare you find such a useful and quality tool for such a great price.

JR here's a link to the drill I carry for the occasional need the bore a small hole, it works great and is fairly light weight. It mainly stay's in the vehicle until needed, and if you surf a bit , it can be had at a reasonable price............

                Check out this tool,

drills, cuts, grinds, sands, etc. also has a universe (wide array) of accesories, do not buy the nails tool, go for something serious like this DREMEL cordless

it's the one I use either in the shop or outdoors, no need to connect it when working at customer's premises.

This is the one I've used; with the collet, it can accept most smaller gauge bits (but it is manual, but with sharp bits, how much effort would it take)?
If only I could find where I left it.

If you can finish the job in 10 or 15 minutes the battery powered version is fine. But for a durable tool, go with the corded version. I've had 4 or 5 Dremels over the years, and the battery powered versions just don't hold up to continuous use:

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Is there a 'Pen Drill'?

In my earlier post on this subject i made a link to a manual drill tool. This is great for plastic and don't let the size fool you, this tool gets the job done. it can get in places a drill cannot and more.
Having said that , i am shop based now and use a combo set i asked my boss to purchase. Its a porta cable 12v combo set. comes with drill and driver, bag, two battries and lithium. These are awesome, i hardly ever use my 8 inch number 2 anymore, i always reach for those. I have modified the bit system to have a reach of about 10 inches which i can shorten at will. I also use the driver more than the drill to REMOVE AND INSTALL screws, Yes install also. The torque on this tool is great and if one is carefull on how to use it, will never strip even on plastic. i use in on plastic at will. see lowes website for the specs on this combo.

Ocassionly i go out on calls, and although my tool bag is now disoriented, [ as i have some on the bench and in the bag] i reach for the driver first.
The chuck on the drill can hold even a needle, so its usefull and if i have to go back in the field [ lord forbid ] these two is a must have. the driver definitely in my bag and the drill in the car. the driver is a bit of weight, but what it does more than compensate for the job time and satisfaction. It also has a light .
I do a lot of rebuilds at the shop and use these tools quite a lot, and the battery last about three weeks before it recharges. recharge time is about 20-30 minutes.
bought it on sale for 99 dollars at lowes two years ago and well worth the money.

You also get to use it for around the house and don't forget the carrrrr.

My intention to start a thread on tools for the trade.
