"IP Faxing" is just another name for Scan-to-Email. Most email to fax services put the phone number as the recipient email address: for example, 18005551212@faxcenter.com

Please keep in mind that this is a billable service, not something free. Just search "IP fax server" to see some of the 4.3M links.

I don't know specifically of Ricoh, but there are some HP and Lexmark products that make it a little more seamless to operate for the enduser. On these specific machines you can pre-program the domain, i.e. '@faxcenter.com', and the machine prepends the phone number when you enter it. Also these specific machines allow pre-programming of an access code in the Title line of the email.

There are workarounds that allow this to work on any machine that can scan to email.
    1) Use addressbook entries to pre-program specific commonly used phone number/email addresses, i.e 18005551212@faxcenter.com
    2) Most MFP's have a way of programming the Title line of the email to include the access code.
    3) Set up scan to email just like you would ordinarily. Naturally you'll need authentication enabled to access outside your domain, including the fax server in our example: faxcenter.com

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Or, you could simply have them get a fax enabled P.O.T.S. (dial up) modem hooked up to their computer. Then they can scan to the computer and then fax the resulting scans through that modem. I did that successfully for years back in the day.
Huh? That's expired technology? Aw crap, sorry. Never mind.

There is not enough information provided here to give an accurate answer, at least IMHO.

How many MFPs are involved? How many pages and transactions per day? How much inbound vs outbound fax traffic is there? How time critical are the faxes? Are there peak times?

Is the ability to send faxes something they may do once or twice a month, or part of their daily workflow?

Or, and this is what I would fear, is the customer just trying to save a few bucks by chincing out on the cost of the option?

Perhaps I've blown this out of proportion, but these are questions that need to be asked of the customer to make sure their expectations and needs are being met. DO NOT ask the customer about being chincy, of course.

This is no good for saving cost if the recipient on use analog fax. It will only work on the intranet or to other enabled IP-fax/internet fax enabled MFP's.
There is info that will lead you on the CD that comes with the machine with the help stuff on.
          Whatever

I think that was one of my points. IP faxing on a device like the bizhub is going to be inconvenient at best, with only minimal cost savings if you roll in the fees associated with the service.

The only way that IP faxing is convenient and useful, is if you have a device like that Lexmark the simplifies it's use. So far, it's a technology that just hasn't taken hold. =^..^=
