I've got a customer with a Bizhub 364e, they have about a dozen email addresses programmed in, they all work except 1, which displays a "server connect error". they've double checked everything, they can email to this person in outlook without any problem, they're using their own server & DNS, any ideas please....

Re: scan to email
I've seen "Server Connect Errors" on Bizhubs caused by DNS settings (I usually default to Google DNS when setting up email), but most often that affects ALL scan to email addresses.
What address are you sending from? Check the sending address, and make sure the receiving email account doesn't have the sender listed as "Spam".
...good luck.... scan to email can be..... "frustrating". -
Re: scan to email
What is your senders address?
I have had this fault before and the fix was to change the senders address to a working email address, ie info@company.comComment

Re: scan to email
If any adress exept one with xxx@company.com is working, your SMTP settings must been correct.
Have in Mind, you can store a different sender adress for each target.
If you miss-spell the sender adress to xxx@compony.com instead of xxx@company.com,
verify this as an maybe reason.
As known, kapital letters in Mailadresses are converted to nonkapital.
But not all in house based mailservers made this correct.
Check this also.
Another mistake can be made with the preadress:
a.tommy@company.com instead of a-tommy@company.com.
Or simply replaced the @ with a .
My often seen failures with error result "Cant connect to server" are based on faulty passwords.
Given the correct PN into Notepad, copy it then to Machine Pagescope is the best way, to leave this as solved.
HAD TODAY A CRITICAL PASSWORD WITH UNDERLINES AND MINUS SIGNS MIXED:
Handwroted on Paper, so no one can see, what kind the lines are.
From here i have no more hints, try and give feedback.

Re: scan to email
Server connection error would suggest just that - the device cannot communicate with the server at the time of scanning. My understanding is this has nothing to do with the destination email address.
Since every other user is working on the device this can only be a mail server issue not allowing or rejecting the communication for some reason. Surely the mail server would be able to provide some information on this basis.
I've also heard of strange issue such as the Display name causing an issue - why I have no idea but we had a user named 'kim' and it wouldn't work, had to change the display name and worked away fine. Email address was still the same in both instance.
Will be interested to know the fix.Comment

Re: scan to email
I would look for a typo in the address or that user's email address is not a domain address like the others.
Often I see smtp setup with no authentication. This can work as long as you are scanning to a company email address. If you try to send to a gmail or some other outside address, it will fail.Comment

Re: scan to email
I've had a few where the smtp server would reject any email going outside of their internal network. For example konica@bizhub.com would be fine, and anyone to @bizhub.com would work. However, any email going to a @gmail.com would not work. Is the smtp server an internal or hosted server? Are there authentication credentials?Comment

Re: scan to email
Yes, there are limitation at mailservers, wich are inside a company.
I use here my own Mailserver, internal any mail is allowed, outgoing mail is only allowed for users with my permission.
Scanners or MFP are never allowed for mail outside.
Users have to scan to themself and send then by their own account.
Its only a question of safety rules.Comment
