or you can just install " Start Is Back " and you go back to Win7 style ... gets rid of all those stupid tiles .. and you can choose the style of your start button.

Re: Get rid of Junk in Windows
I happen to like Classic Shell. When I got my first computer that came with Windows 10 it took most of one evening to find it. Been using it ever since. The individual who originally developed it quit making any additional changes but it still works fine. Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements
pick the background color
size of fonts
style of folder/programs icon
start button thru all win version from Vista (ugh)
and others I can't remember right now.
OH YEAH No damn stupid ass TILES! Yeah!Comment

OH YEAH No damn stupid ass TILES! Yeah!Classic, pre Windows 8, desktopI know what you mean about those stupid TILES.
I get to use my own selection of wallpaper
Choice of original Win7 start menu, Classic Start Menu or Classic Start Menu with 2 columns
Choice of 2 Start Buttons or you can design your own
The other thing I didn't like was what ever happened to the classic Windows games? If I wanted to play Xbox games I would have bought a Xbox.Comment

Re: Get rid of Junk in Windows
I quite like Windows 10 the tiles can be removed by right-clicking and remove this tile or something like that.
I think a lot of these start is back programs were written for Windows 8 because it didn't have a start button as we were used to, clicking the start in win8 bought up a screen full of tiles.
The pc I use came with win8 which was upgraded to win7 24 hours laterComment

Re: Get rid of Junk in Windows
Install Linux, customize the desktop manager to your hearts content and problem solved.
Currently I like Mint with the default Cinnamon setup.Comment

Re: Get rid of Junk in Windows
I've got a mix of Linux and Windows systems. The operating system is a tool, and it comes down to the right tool for the right job.
Mint and Ubuntu are a good starting point, especially since drivers are much easier to install than some of the other distributions.
