    Make and model is relevant as to determining whether or not the MFP supports TLS, a requirement for most email services today, including smtp.gmail.com.

    Google mfp scan to gmail. One of the first results will be a Google support document that should provide all the information you need once you know what your Ricoh supports as far as SSL and TLS if any.

        both the HP and Konica are 2 years old so yeah they support TLS/SSL

        yeah i was dubious about using the email tester website but was to lazy to get out my hub and setup wireshark lol.

        i monitor the login activity though and so far nothing suss has occured luckily

        but if you are curious it was a C300i and HP E78325dn

          what dns address are you using?

          google dns address? 8.8.8.8 ?

          try using your local dns address (your gateway / router ip)

          I always fail using scan to email using gmail server settings.

          =======================================

          I use smtp2go.com. But you have to use your own domain like www.rrrohan.com.
          for the past 1 year. scan to email was smooth using their smtp server. No complaint from customer.

          google smtp settings from google.com:

              What happens when you run: nslookup smtp.gmail.com ?

              Is it resolving the address?

                  i dont have a domain i am just using myaddresshere@smtp2go.com and its working fine.

                  or do u mean you have to signup using a business email, because that i did have to do

                  in many ways this service is better than gmail anyway. i always hated the fact it saved all sent items. but this one is acting more like a relay so i dont have to worry about that. plus the configuration option are the most flexible ive ever seen. the fact i can use about 6 different ports and i dont even need encryption is great for older machines. the 25 per hour is possibly a limit some might hit but to upgrade to the next paid plan is very reasonable

                    Adding to the thread, gmail has "app passwords" that can be generated under the main account without using the main accounts password. I make these for customers that use google, and never hear from them again. Note, you have to enable 2FA withing the google account to enable app password generation.
