Ports tab in Printer properties is empty

I hope this is a right forum for this question.

Customer has one laptop that, when I tried to change Port setting, and they have empty ports list. When I tried to add new printer/new port. I get Filename is is incorrect.

    Any ideas.

How was the printer originally installed? Are you connecting by IP address, node or is this a shared printer that's physically connected to another machine?

This "empty port list" happens even if I open Microsoft's Print to PDF printer.

I was trying to get an idea of how the printer was configured since I see "DC" in the name of the properties, as if the printer is being physically shared from a Domain Controller. Create a test user account with Admin privileges on the laptop to see if the issue is user acct related.

He has something redacted in front of the DC01 that makes me think that the redacted text + the DC01 is actually the name of the print server where the MP 501 driver actually resides. Odds are that the computer is part of a Domain and the logged in user does not have Domain admin rights.

Agreed, the changes to the port will need to be made at the server level.
That would also explain why there are no ports....

Yes, exactly. If it's a workgroup PC, a test user account can rule out a user registry error.

Sorry for misinformation. Pictures are not from my customer. Just a sample I got from internet so I can better convey my question. Here is customer's computer picture. We'll try to create new user to see if it's User not Windows problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

Still the question remains, does the logged in user have administrator rights?

Even though without admin rights there should be a list ports/IP's etc, not just blank. Does the Print Management feature is installed? Can you see anything in Ports? Does the Print Spooler service running?

The Spooler can be restarted from Task Manager. At the left select Services, scroll down to Spooler, right click on Spooler and select Restart.
