    Windows 11 pro WPP problem

Windows 11 24H2 build seems to have WPP turned on even though it's off on the print settings. This build has some bugs in it as far as windows security and a new update was just released yesterday,7-22. I don't know if this update is going to fix my problem but if anyone has run into this issue and has a solution please lets me know.
    Thanks

I have another customer put in a service call yesterday afternoon who is stating that their 3new computers won't load the driver..this seems to be an issue with the new 24H2 build. I will be going to that customer later today. as far as what I'm seeing its simply as stated in my post. WPP shows that its not active in the add printer window but acts like it is.

Ensure the new devices are not in S Mode. Have been seeing this a lot with new Windows laptops. The driver will download and start installing, then at 75% or so it throws a compatibility error. Turn off S Mode via Microsoft store and install driver.

As to WPP, I have not seen this yet and from what I have read, Microsoft was not going to make WPP on by default until 2027. But, as we all know, Windows hates printers.....

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Check and see what communication method the computer is using to connect to the printer: gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Printers > Configure RPC connection Settings make sure it's enabled and set to RpcOverNamedPipes instead of RpcOverTCP. I've had this cause some strange issues connecting to printers shared on a print server, especially if the server or MFP are in a different subnet.

Thanks for the suggestions All, Im using the new Ricoh drivers that goes out and captures the MFP and self installs. The process looks the same at the end with no errors but when you check the driver to make changes .i.e color and duplex settings, the driver is not there. I know what happens when S (student)mode is purchased and this problem is not that. These are stand alone units that were just purchased for a Church. If anyone can confirm a good driver installation on a 24H2 build please chime in. I looked through the MS patch notes and there is no mention of a WPP issue.

Are you then able to add the print drivers from the Printing Properties screen? Printing Properties > Advanced > Driver Tab. Also, as long as you're not on Windows Home, Print Management should be available by default (if not it can be enabled) and it gives you everything all in one place to check and add drivers/printers.

Can you be a lot more specific as to the MFP you are working with and the driver you installed. Then maybe we can determine what you should have installed.

Hi All, Im getting delivered a new laptop PC on Monday so I can test if this is a problem with a specific new build. I went to another account yesterday who had an upgraded OS to 24H2 and had no problem loading the PCL6 driver on their 2 workstations.

Slim; the unit is a IMC6000 and I only install the PCL6 drivers as a rule. I reached out to my Ricoh DSM for some feed back and tried some different ways to install to no avail. Im going back to customer sometime this week to dig into this more.
                    Thanks All for your input.
