I have a demo machine out right now that is a konica 8031 with a Fiery X3e 31C-M-K controller on it. The drivers are installed and it is printing however there is no options in the print driver menu except paper size. No black & white/grayscale/color option, no color management, duplex options etc. I need to find out if there is a driver for this application that I can provide that has some options availible or she isn't going to buy the machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently Konica doesn't make a PPD for that particular model. My advice is to see if there is a PPD available from Konica for a similar model machine and try it. -
Support & Drivers Search Page | Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc.
choose colour products
choose ic401
choose drivers
pick your mac flavour and check out.. cups filters are available upto 10.5
ppd appears @ 10.3 I believe, u can use the ppd in almost any mac version.
I think I still have a copy on my old 10.3.9 g3 somewhere.

Tried it
I got the drivers from Konica's website and there is still no options. At least according to the user when I'm on the phone. She is very savvy with her macs as it is the platform she has used for years. There is a PPD file for windows that I use for Linux and it seems to work however it refuses to function in a mac environment.Comment

What flavour (os) of mac is this? Had a c350 do something similar with it's fiery and it was not because of the ppd used it was how the apple showed the dialogs... does it give the same feature sets from all program (eg word or adobe reader as opposed to say i dunno another basic apple program) My c350 dialogs varied with the app.. it wasnt the pdd it was the app doing it.
Regards. A..
ps my mac user was also very savvy too.. she ultimately called a mac expert and found out about this "issue" and resolved it. I don't remember exactly what was clicked but she did find all the "hidden" features ultimately. Also my mac user as using a very new os 10.5 mac.Comment

The customer have not installed or selected the correct ppd (Fiery X3e 31C-M). It might be better to delete the printer and install it again.
Also check the Mac OS version. I have only fond drivers for 10.2/10.3 and don't know how they will work in newer OS versions.Comment

Konica Minolta not interested in developing this driver
Konica Minolta is apparently not interested in developing the drivers needed by the newer Mac OS's (such as 10.5.x) except for newer equipment, which is usually sold with their own Emperon controllers. OS 10.5.X is also unique because it is the only OS you can run with these new Intel chipsets that macs are using. C351's are probably the oldest machine that will work with the new macs.Comment

Interesting I have at least 1 c350 working with a current (new) mac, unless the c351 is older than a c350.

Problem Solved
I solved this problem by installing the printer again but this time when I chose the driver to install I selected "other" in the menu and specified the PPD file from the Windows PostScript driver downloaded for Win2K/XP/Vista. All of the options became available however in the 'Device Options' menu the sections were labeled 'Options 1,' Options 2,' etc. Minor detail, not a big deal. FYI the printer was installed via HPSocked, not LPD/LPR or IPP.Comment

Update
Update: One of my customers mac books had the driver available in the library file of her notebook it looks like it came with the system so I don't know why it had the driver by default but not the other ones. I dropped the UNIX CUPS Mac Filters in the printer library and copied the print driver from the mac book and put them in the library files of the rest of the computers on the network. They now have full functionality. What a hassle, especially because I'm not a Mac guy, I tried to talk them into switching to a Debian environment with no luck. :-) Needless to say i've got all the essential files on a jump drive now.Comment
