Hello, I purchased some of these readers off ebay for a customer and 3 have password locks and I can't get into the webserver via browser and the workbench 2.2 tool can't connect to the reader to change the mode from keyboard to CCID to be used with the rest. Is there any way to force a factory reset on these devices through command line or something? Any help is appreciated.

True. I was told to do it because they are cheaper than the amazon ones which are most likely refurbed as well since they are discontinued.
There has to be some way to force a reset on these things though.Comment

Did eBay give you ant type of guarantee or warranty? Probably not on a used device. Amazon has at least a 90 day refund/replacement on their Renewed and Refurbished devices. They even have a renewed N300 currently priced at $11.99 US or a dual band RE200 AX750for $ 21.99. Only 10 or less remaining but you can get by Friday if you are a Prime member.
Now how much did you pay on eBay and what model?Comment

Just heard back from HID themselves:
"Unfortunately, the OMNIKEY R54270001 is the older End Of Life Gen1 model OMNIKEY Smart Card Readers Product Support Lifecycle | Support and no longer supported by HID for several years.
We currently only support the newer firmware readers R54270101 & R54270111 (R54270101 is the G2 Model. R54270111 is the G2 Bluetooth Model)
It is not possible to upgrade an old R54270001 to the newer models, as the firmware is different so configuration files may not be shared between 5427 Gen1 & 5427 Gen2."
Ebay seller says no returns but also labeled the items as New & unopened but they clearly were used and locked so hopefully the ebay guarantee should cover me.
HID's support initially told me if it was a Gen2 that the only way to reset it would be to mail it to their headquarters but if it was a Gen 1, which it is, then it would be different. Then after I tell them it is a Gen 1 for the 2nd time, they hit me with the above blanket statement. Leading me to believe there might be a way to force a reset but who knows. Probably via a firmware update or reflash but they won't supply me with the old FW to do so I guess.
**UPDATE:
Just got the final reply from the manufacturer after I asked if there was anything else I could do on my own,
"Unfortunately not. With the OMNIKEY 5427, it can only be unlocked by using software on an HID corporate network.
As this reader is no longer supported, we are no longer able to unlock the reader.
I am very sorry about this."Last edited by captainrva; 06-28-2023, 02:41 PM.Comment
