You'll get very little out of the course without it. The good news is that you can pick up used equipment for a fraction of the cost of new.

BTW: rthonpm is the local expert on here. I used to bug the hell out of him. He didn't seem to mind.
Geez really? I'll see when once I start doing the CCNA course and I feel confident then perhaps I'll get some used equipments. But like mentioned earlier that 90% of the course will not be applicable to the copier industry maybe unless I somehow become their IT/copier tech?? Only time will tell Lol.

Many companies have the combo main body/IT tech bigger companies have their own IT that does nothing but installs and IT related service calls.

Think about it. You can read about how to make a cake but at some points your gonna have a crack a couple of eggs and actually get some hands on experience. In other words, you'll need to buy the ingredients to actually bake a cake.

CCNA isn't a networking cert. It's certifying you to manage and configure Cisco equipment. Unless you're looking to be a switch jockey you're better served spending your money on a different cert.

The sure fire path to an IT job now is going to be A+, Net+, and Security + between those three you can walk into most tier 1 help desk roles.

I don't know about that. CCNA - which stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate. Managed switches & routers are the backbone of most networks. Without them, you have nothing.

Obtaining a Cisco CCNA certification can open up a wider range of career opportunities while offering higher compensation than those positions only requiring the Network+ certification.

Most small business Don't have managed switches or networks.

Do one certification at a time Network+ will be more reliable to copier field and 99% of companies will want that completed as a minimum requirement.

Hopefully your employer will reimburse for at least the certification fee once you pass it and or pay for your training course. You should ask you current company if they will pay for all or any part of it.

                Good luck

I highly doubt they will pay for anything as they are money tight owners. I'm doing this for my own benefits 😆

Yeah, the ownership at 3D Imaging is pretty much assholes. Just about any other major copier dealer in Bakersfield might even pay for the first round of testing on the CCNA.

Oh that's good to know that other companies are willing to pay for it.

Yes they do. My company paid for everything related to my training, even let us study during work and paid overtime for the time spent studying at home. They realized that the techs needed to be trained if we were going to be a successful company. These days with the shortage of quality techs, tech are in the drivers seat and can ask for and receive much more that ever before.

Not only that but some manufacturers even provide training or pay for training with third party courses. Back before I retired, as an employee of a Ricoh Family Group dealer I was able through the Ricoh University to sign up for Fiery training with EFI. Included one year of direct support from EFI.

I worked for Lanier Dealer. Lanier became a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh. The company I worked for was General Office Machine Company. I started with them in 1972 when I got off active duty with the Army. At that time I was working on Stenocord, Gary, Nyematic and Teletran dictation systems, all of which were distributed by Lanier Distributing which later became Lanie Worldwide. On the copier side I worked on Olivetti, Apeco, SCM, Saxon, Sharp, Old Town and 3M thermal. When plain paper machine came on the market, other than brand X(Xerox), Apeco was rebranding Royal. A dealer out of Fresno came up with a roll fed option for the RBC 1 and my boss asked if I could design an auxiliary tray. I designed and we manufactured a 1000 sheet tray that mounted in an ad on frame that went under the main frame. Since part of our Olivetti copier business was Coinfax, I was then tasked to design a coin-op conversion. After requests from other dealers at NOMDA, I eventually developed a coin-op aux feed option for the Savin 770.

I have also installed and repaired computers, networks and Phone systems.
