    km-1820 scan to vista (smb)

well, we got this working, but is there any way not to have to know the users pc login and password? if i needed to scan to someone else's computer, i would have to know their info.

    anyone figure this out yet?

I only set these up to scan to email. Too much of a pain having to enter in the path every time. I've heard people set the computer name to A & folder to A to speed entry.
As far as Vista goes, the only luck I've had is using the Public folders in Vista as the scan destination.
Do a search on here for SMB scan Vista & you'll get some info.
    Hope that helps !

      here is your fix

update the firmware on 1820 to the european or the latin american version... the name of the copier will change from 1820 to something like 1118 but all the functions will be the same... all will hold and you will have the added functionality that you want...

You can create a new local user and use that user\password for scanning.
Remember that on Vista, you will have to modify the security of the shared folder to allow "Everyone" or at least the scan user\password to access the folder. So you share the folder out normally, then go to the Security tab (in the folder Properties) and add the users who you want to access this folder and of course on the bottom of this window, check the permissions you want them to have on this folder (read, write, and usually modify)

Otherwise it is the same as on XP Pro
