Is you IR5000 print ready? Does it have a Nic Card? When you press Additional Fuctions button, do you see a network settings, and a Printer Settings touch button? Then, if you have these options installed are you hooking it to a network or directly to a pc

Are you using a Crossover Cable? A standard Ethernet cable will not work.
If you are you still may have to flash the machine with canon system software . Yopu could also try a MMI clear in service mode.

I see a mistake right away.

For your printer to be on the same network, your PC needs to be at any address: 172.16.11.xxx For example: 172.16.11.3
With your PC at 172.16.10.5 it's on a different subnet and will not communicate or ping. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Your IP address is wrong the third octet is wrong make sure that all but the last octet is the same and your subnet mask all have to be the same. Use a crossover cable if you are going straight from the PC to the copier.

You are using a CROSSOVER CABLE right?> Well the only thing left to do, with replacing parts is to do a System Flash. You must have service tool and the specific 5000/6000 data to do this. Sorry I can no provide this for you.

Hi blackcat! Initially I thought the same thing, that would be true if his subnet was 255.255.255.0 That signifies a class C network, and all but the last octet have to be the same. But his reported network is 255.255.0.0, which is a class B network, I believe only the first two octets have to match. This allows for a far greater number of network address' to be available. But on a small network, class B makes no sense.

I may be mistaken,, and if I am,, somebody educate me

Thanks for the correction mrfixit. I don't see many class B addresses, so that slipped right by me. =^..^=
