    Canon CLC3200 with C1

ok , time for my first question

Will have more info tomorrow after visit with original engineer, but wanted to see if anyone here has an idea

    CLC3200 with C1 , Failed HDD. Harddrive replaced ( but with one from a IR4570 , forget p/n will look up )

Re install went fine. Machine re set up and back up and running.

Except that their lone MAC can no longer print to it.

PC's can print fine to C1. MAC can print to b/w machines with Fiery's. Obviously the only thing to change was the C1 HDD.

MAC can can ping C1. Driver install either fails or says printer is offline. But shows toner levels.

Sorry if a little vague , but wondering if rings any bells?

    cheers

Did you lose the PS PDL when you reinstalled?
Print a config sheet and see if PS is listed under PCL

      Thanks for the reply.

All my info is second hand. So dont know. Wont untill the am. Wanted some suggestions first as its a pain in the balls to visit this customer due to distance.

And if I have lost the PS PDL?...I presume the PC's are using PCL then yes? I am sure the original tech would have re loaded as before , and he has printed off a config from the B/w RIP and compared. And re-compared. He said they are the same.

I checked and I was wrong, the PCL and PS are bundled together with the C1. Older models there were 2 separate system software files. So that shouldn't be an issue.

I'd try using a PS driver from windows PC just to verify that PS is installed and working. If windows PC's can print via PS I'd say the problem lies with the lone Mac, especially since it is can tell the toner levels but shows offline.
Print a config sheet and make sure LPD is enabled.
Uninstall the software from the Mac with the used CD and reinstall it.
I've had the best luck with Mac's installing the driver via LPD in print center. "TCP/IP printing" or "other" in the print center give me trouble sometimes.

Good call on the LPD, D_L_P.

Also a chance that the Mac is printing using Apple Talk, and that Apple Talk t'aint turned on at the RIP.

That I don't know. OS X , but don't know what flavour. Has got printers under utilities , so pre Snow Leopard.

If it was previously printing using Apple talk, make sure that the name is the same as it was before.

If it's not, and there's only one Mac, it may be easier and faster to just re-add the printer to the Mac.

Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciated.

Finally made it to customers after a few days in hospital

Didn't have to do anything special , just deleted all existing drivers off the Mac and started from scratch. Re adding it went a breeze , so don't know what the original problem was. When I went back I was solo, the original tech was awol at the time.

                    Thanks again.
