We carry kyocera and copystar machiens and ive noticed some of the other manufactures have a pull out keyboard attached to the machine to use instead of the touch screen. Has anyone tried just plugging in a keyboard to the usb ports on like a cs420i or cs400ci? Or do they offer any type of keyboard you can use instead of the touchscreen for the copystars?
Keyboards on the copiers?

Don't know much about Kyocera or Copystar, but I can tell you that the newest Ricoh family machines can use a keyboard, but only for eCopy Embedded and the Ricoh scanning product, GlobalScan.
It won't work for anything else.
I would imagine that other brands are very similar in this regard.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim Hawkins -
We've been asking for a keyboard compatible USB port for years now. No, Copystar/Kyocera Mita machine will not recognize a standard keyboard. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

It's been tried. Some of our more Linux-savy bretheren believe that function must specifically be blocked. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

All newer level Konica Minolta machines (Tuxedo variants) have this as an option. I'm not sure about proprietary issues however."Many years ago I chased a woman for almost two years, only to discover that her tastes were exactly like mine: we both were crazy about girls."

Tuxedo is the coolest series name ever! That is so funny! I thought the Sharp animal names were abit silly, but Tuxedo is awesome!Comment

On KyoceraMita (CopyStar) Machines, you can actually connect to the machine from your computer and add/edit/delete addresses or destination, also, they're coming out with a new utility you can create custom buttons on the newer models even add custom logos or pictures to the buttons for presets. and just transfer them over thumbdrive, just in case you're not aware you can connect to the KM machines by just going to http://[MachinesIPAddress] on your browser, once you enter the admin used id and password, you can make your modifications. As far as a KB, I dont think these machines are configured to understand these devices.Comment

They're asking for trouble, I can see them being replaced because of them breaking, or have some liquid spilled on them.Comment
