    Bizhub 350 Scan-to Email

I'm trying to set up a BIzhub 350 for scan to email. I've talked to the customer's IT people several times and have had no luck getting it working. The only thing that I can't figure out how to do is turn on SMTP over SSL. Their IT guy says this must be done but I see no setting or softswitch to do this. On newer Bizhubs it is clear how to set this. Does someone know how to do it on a 350?

    Please help if you can.
    Thanks.

Look in user manual C350 Printer Controller for specifics on setting SSL.

It can be found easily under the network tab of the pagescope interface.

This machine is a Bizhub 350 B/W not the C350. If it's in the manual, I can't find it. I've spent probably 2 hours looking at the manual for this - can't find it.

        Does this help you somehow?

        From Minolta:

        Solution ID TAUS0701612EN* Solution Usage
        Description
When setting up scan to E-mail, there is no field available to enter the SMTP host name.
        Solution
CAUSE: DNS settings have not been entered as the DNS option is disabled. The machine will not allow host names without DNS server information for host
        name resolution.
SOLUTION: Enter the Admin 2 mode, select network settings, then DNS settings. Set the DNS server address and enter. Now enter the SMTP settings and
the field for the host name will be available.
SPECIAL NOTE: Solution contribution by Mike Galletta, Workgroup/SSD

        or this:

Enabling User Name and Password for SMTP Authentication.
        Solution
        SMTP Authentication
Note : Before starting, make sure NC-4 and SU-2 or SU-3 are installed. ROM versionmust becurrent.
        1. Login Admin mode onMFP panel.
        2. Select Admin2.
        3. Open "SoftSW setting" and set "SoftSW 380, Bit6=1 and Bit2=1".
        4. Save Settings.
        5. Open "Network Set" and "SMTP Setting".
        6. Set SMTP Server Address (TCP/IP address of Mail Server).
        7. Set "E-mail Address"
        8. Set "SMTP AUTH User Name"
        9. Set "SMTP AUTH Password"
        10. Save Settings.
Note : If you get error code EA21C6, it means Authentication method error. If you get error code E72217, it means User ID or Password is incorrect.
        WithSU-3:
If you want to share POP3 User name and password as SMTP Auth User name and Password, set "SoftSW 380, Bit6=1 and Bit2=0".
Set the POP3 user name and password on "Network Set" and "POP3 Setting".
This method will use CRAM-MD5, Login or Plain authentication.
CAUTION : If you set SoftSW 380, Bit6=1, URL report function with Scan to Server (FTP), HDD will notwork.

          my bad....sorry....

          Biz350 SMTP over SSL TSB/TAD....

          Subject:
Does this MFP series support SMTP over SSL/TLS?

          Description:
Does MFP series support SMTP over SSL/TLS?
          Solution:
The bizhub 200/250/350 and 222/228/362 specification does not support SMTP over SSL/TLS.

An alternative you may be able to use is SMB scanning or scan to user box. SMB is preferable due to ease for end user. User box is a little more to it, but just as viable. Then the user can manually forward the attached file through their desktop email.

I was afraid this was the case. I already have SMB scanning set up but this woman isn't happy with it because she "can't ever remember how to attach a file to an email"!! Thanks for the info.

I think this woman is going to have to learn how to attach a file to an email.

"Kicking and screaming, get yourself into the damn 21st century for crying out loud...."

There is quite literally no excuse. She wants the convenience, then buy a new machine that is capable of SSL or tell her IT to get over themselves with security and disable SSL for SMTP.

Perhaps I don't get it and do not understand the quintessence of the post, but is scan-ftp not an alternative or is this too unsure for that IT chap?

Hans if I have read all the post correctly they want scan to email because the end user does not know or want to know how to attach a document in her email program.
