MX-4501N jams at transfer belt

This thing is driving me nuts! Will run perfect for 2 months and suddenly start jamming under the transfer belt. When I go out it may jam 5 times in a row or once every 100 pages. Then it stops jamming all together and runs fine for another 2 months. Jam log always shows POD1_N which doesn't make sense since the paper is no where near the fuser and frequently jams on first page so it can't be that it thinks the previous page didn't exit.

Okay guys, I've been a Sharp tech since the SF-710 model so obviously I've done all of the standard trouble shooting.

Anybody seen this? Any ideas?

Try this seen it many times. First change your waste toner box. Carefully check on the waste box white auger gear has 2 tabs that turn and they get broken. Causing the cleaning station in the trans belt to lock up and paper stops at the belt. If its to damaged you should get a new belt unit, but vaccum it out as a test, paper should pass after doing that. This is what most techs miss for this problem, but you need to update firmware and consider bypass feed to confirm this is a trans belt, or fuser gear drive issue cauising this problem. Next try a new fuser or a swap seen bad fuser of fuser sensor cause a jam under fuser. Good luck and run sim 30 i think is motor drive units like belt, fuser and exit unit.

Thanks for your reply but I did find the problem. Took out belt, disassembled and cleaned unit, lubricated and re-applyed starting powder to belt. So far machine is working great.
