Customer was smb scanning no problem to WXP. Upgraded computers to Windows 7 and I cannot get SMB to work. I can browse to the folder and drop a file into it from another workstation. I tried :445 after the ip address and still no help. Any ideas what I am overlooking?

Have you tried the domain name in front of the login username?
i.e.: \\copytechnet\blackcat4866
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

yeah, I don't think the whack whack needs to be there. If you are using hostname, then make sure it is all caps (i.e. MYCOMPUTER). To see if it's network or permissions problem, you can always use the IP of the computer. I wouldn't suggest keeping it that way but for testing, it may help.
Shouldn't have to use domain\user for the username but make sure that the user you have in the credentials does have rread/write access to the folder.
I don't like sharing folders so I usually setup Win7 using a hidden share. So in host address I have the computer name in all caps, and then in the file path I will have something like "C$\SCANS".
I just create a folder right on C called scans and not worry about sharing it out. Just make sure it looks just like that up there ^^
hope that helps some.Comment

Hi,
I've had a glance at this and the other suggestion I can think of is configuring the windows firewall...
Control Panel > system and security > allow a program through windows firewall
Select file and printing sharing checkbox and ok
back in the control panel > system security > select check firewall status
advanced settings
inbound rules
new rule
port > next
TCP > specific local port '139' > next
allow the connection > next
make sure domain, private and public are ticked > next
name (eg) "scan to SMB"
Make sure the copier is using port 139 (not 445 as you put earlier in the thread)
I'd usually go about this by creating a shared folder on C: drive called "scans" once created there is usually a padlock that appears in windows 7 so you have to right click and go to the security tab.
Edit > ADD > Type word โEVEโ > select check names > Select โEVERYONEโ
Make sure Everyone is on the list now for people to share the folder with.
Select Permissions > Give full allowances apart from โspecial permissionsโ.
APPLY.
Padlock should now have disappeared.
make sure the username is correct.. in command prompt enter "net config workstation" it will tell you the username in there. (not that I don't trust what a customer tells me)
Hope this helps.Comment

Re: KM-C2525E SMB scan to W7
is this computer on a domain if not see if there is a domain name in the TCP/IP settings of the machine clear it out and try, also when you get the error hit job history button highlight the failed job hit details and check the error in the top right hand corner what dose it say?
- are the file permissions right
- try the hostname/ IP Address
- username and password correct (also is this users set in the file permissions)
- can you navigate to the UNC path from another PC

Re: KM-C2525E SMB scan to W7
create a new user and start from a fresh default settings. Shouldnt have to mess around with firewall issues unless your 3rd party firewall restricts it, and really the only firewall/anti virus I come across which does this is norton and mcafee.Comment

Re: KM-C2525E SMB scan to W7
Bit late in the game...
Windows Live Essentials also messes with SMB scanning. With the customers permission remove this and it should work if all your other settings are correct. I've had this issue with early editions of SMB scan enabled MFP's by Konica and Develop.
It's also been the source of issue for intermittent connectivity issues with some Panasonics we have in the field. Worth a try.Comment

Re: KM-C2525E SMB scan to W7
I had issues with Windows 7 connecting using smb, and fixed it with deleting out the credentials under control panel - credential manager. Then, create the new credential. Then, I applied the following edit to the registry: Windows 7 can see Samba Shares but cannot see Samba Domain . Now Windows 7 and smb (Samba) play nice, files and printers share as they should. Originally, I could not get the copier to scan through smb over to Windows 7, so I set up a Linux server with samba to scan to. Once I fixed the issues of scanning to samba on the Linux machine, the issues with Windows 7 and smb were also fixed.Comment
