SMB Scan locks up @ control panel scanning to watched folder by imaging app

I have spent alot of time & money and beat my brains out on this one. I am now convinced that file operation collisions are happening in the folder between the MFP and the imaging app. The imaging application support people are telling me they want that file as soon as it appears and check with the mfg for a firmware fix or something. Firmware is current and I get little to no info from my tech support. I talked to another IT guy out of town and he tells me they need to increase their watch time to 1-4 minutes. What product or firmware makes no difference they all perform the same basic SMB file operations within the watched folder. I need all the accurate intelligence I can get to work with this guy and work this out.
Any experience with this problem appreciated.

What network client are they using? Novell or Windows?
What protocol are they using? SMB, FTP, WebDav?
What type of file is the app using? PDF? EPDF? Tiff? Jpeg?
What is the scanning app they are using?

From what you've said it sounds like its a problem with the app not the MFP. Sounds like the app is geared for usb scanning where it has instant access to the file, not network scanning where it has to poll the folder regularly and yield when a file is being written. Can the watch time be increased??

Can you try copying and pasting a 15-20MB ish file from another workstation just to see how fast their network is?

Good Idea on pasting a file. It was an SMB deposit of a TIFF file to a windows folder watched by a specialized imaging app. I worked with the guy over the phone friday and he rewrote the app code to pause 1 second after detecting activity in the folder before retrieving the file. No lockups since after extensive testing. I'm calling it fixed. I appreciate your taking the time to reply with good ideas.

        Congratulations on your fix. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
