Trouble scanning to email - Canon IR2525

    Hey all,

I'm the unofficial "office IT tech" being that I'm the only one in the office under 50 yrs old, and I'm having some trouble with our network printer/scanner/copier.

I'm able to scan to a folder on each person's networked computer, but for some reason I can't send scans to email, which I need to be able to do for people who need documents in the field. This is especially strange, because prior to moving to our new office, I was able to do this easily.

Is there any troubleshooting tips you could point me towards to figure out why I can't send to email? The only thing I can think of is that we use Clearwire internet, and I'm wondering if the copier can access the network, but not the internet because Clearwire wants a password or something the first time you connect.

Thanks in advance for your help.

After thinking about it some more, if anyone just knows how to check for internet connectivity on an IR2525 machine, that would probably be all I need. If someone can just help me get it online, I think it will work.

I'm plugged directly into my Clearwire router, and can see the printer on the network, but I think it's just unable to connect to the internet.

    Any/all suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just to close this thread / help anyone who comes across this issue, I wanted to let everyone know that the issue has been resolved.

Since we changed office locations and internet providers, the DNS settings on the machine were incorrect. I was able to fix the problem by getting the new DNS settings via the command prompt and typing "ipconfig/all" and finding the DNS number in the resulting information display. I then went into the copier and went to "Additional Functions > System Settings > Network Settings > TCP/IP Settings > IPv4 Settings > DNS Server > DNS Server Address Settings" and then matched the DNS Primary address to the one shown on my computer. Easy as pie!

Hope this helps someone in the future.
      Thanks.

I am glad that you had gotten this sorted out- I hope your explanation can help someone in the future. I wish that everyone would post the solution once it is found, as it closes the chapter and will most definitely help the next person that is faced with a similar problem. Asking for help is what builds our forum here, but posting the answer is what strengthens our foundation.
        Thanks again.

You're welcome! I participate in a few forums here and there, and I always appreciate it when someone manages to close a thread.

I did forget to mention in my solution that the power on the printer must be cycled in order for the changes to take effect.

          Thanks for the feedback.

None having to do with printers/copiers, lol. Mostly just hobbies/discussion forums.
