    Scanning to Email with Exchange

We have all at some stage had problems with machines scanning to email or sending notifications when Exchange is involved. More than a question post, this more of a how to post.

Most SMTP problems could be gotten around by using a whitelist in Exchange 2003, but not 2007 and 2010 are slightly different. The attached document describes how to add a Receive Connector in Exchange which allows for un-authenticated SMTP Relaying. The good thing about this though is that the SMTP Relay Connector is locked down to just certain IP addresses which would be your devices and not the PC's which helps IT people say yes.

    Anyway, hope this helps.

If anyone is getting errors with Exchange 2007 SP3 when trying to add the connector, please check out this Microsoft KB aticle:

You cannot create a receive connector after you install Exchange Server 2007 SP3
Read through the article which tells you how to get around the issue.

Kudos to Owl. He's pulled me out of several of these situations. Many thanks! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
