    KM3050 Scan To Email. Test says OK but actually sending fails.

    Hi Guys, Just as the title says on a KM 3050 the smtp test function says ok. but when i scan it fails.

    We have hundreds of machines using scan to email with the same mail box with no problem.

    I can telnet from my laptop fine.

    Any idea?

    Check the file size limits. make sure scanning isnt set to color. Ect.

      What is the actual error message, the TEST only pings the server, it does not login or try to transfer any files over. CHeck your Credentials, check your security protocols, check your Attachment filesize. Without the actuall error code (on the device when it happens) there is no way of knowing what is causing it to fail

        I've said this a million times. Scan to email failures are not logged anywhere. They're not printed on the Error page. The only place the error is ever displayed is immediately after the error condition and on the screen only. The moment the screen is cleared the error is gone. So a person will and able to write must take note the error.

        It's like calling you're computer tech to say:
        "I got an error message."
        "What did it say?"
        "I don't know. I just cleared it."
        "When you know what the error is, call me."

        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            try adjusting the smtp timeout settings.

              thanks for the usefull input. i have tried different timeout settings. no joy. i have also tried with a different external mailbox/server. it does reach the smtp server as i can see it in the logs although it doesnt authenticate itself even though it is setup too. i am thkning a firewall problem? any imput appreciated.

                Are you sending to some free email server who-knows where?

                I had a ton of these errors at one customer location. All the emails got through, but only every other attachment. Personally I think it has something to do with the internet provider taking too long to connect. This customer has several locations, two of which experienced this problem. After lots of finger pointing between the internet provider and the email provider and the customer and us, the solution was setting up an email relay PC at the customers location. I don't really know why this works, but it does. My theory is that the email relay is more persistent in trying to connect to the off-site email server. Perhaps someone smarter than me can explain why.

                  I get the same result with two email servers. one is hosted by the customer offsite, the other is one hosted by ourselves that every machine iv installed runs off no problems. its definitely got to be customer network side that is causing the problem as its got all the same credentials as other machines at other locations that are working
