    Cant scan files to the folder

    I am using an ricoh aficio 2232c and everything works correctly excepts the scanner. the fax and the printing are correctly working but when i try to scan a document to the folder in my private network it says that there is a error. when i try to do the connection test it says that cant establish connection. but in the computer when i try to ping the multifunction everything is ok.

    What can i do to try to solve the problem?

    Thanks

      Also: what operating system is the computer housing the folder? Workgroup or domain infrastructure?

        Re: Cant scan files to the folder

        when i try to do a connection test it says : cant connect to the computer

        The operating system of computer: windows 7; everything is connected trough cable via switches and everything is connected to the mais server and the computers are in a workgroup where everyone has access.

        the problem is when i select the scanner and the destination folder,the document i scanned dont go to the selected folder. it stays like 2 min trying to send and then it gives an error, and the technician of the machine says that the documents stays in some type of buffer.

        But when i ping the multifunction in the computer it reaches the destination.

          can you browes the shared folder from another pc,just type the host ip( \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xx\share folder )if you are are able to throw something in that folder from other PC then it's all done,

          if not then it's stuck in the firewall,Antivirus,Read & Write permission on folder, try turn off 128bit encryption in local security policies,or in

          Networking and sharing option

          Change advance sharing setting

          Turn on network discovery

          turn on file and printer sharing

          Enable file sharing for devices that use 40-56 bit encryption.

          Then try again from another PC,when it's accessible from another PC its all set!

            I wish I had a dime for every "end user" that tells me I can ping it, but it won't scan...it must be a problem with your equipment....FYI pinging only establishes connectivity to a network device...has nothing to do with scanning (other than the needed connection). It may not even be the MFP you're getting a response back from...could be multiple devices with the same IP address. You should call a qualified tech to come out and get you running..IMO you don't have enough knowledge to even try to work with. Emujo
            If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

              Re: Cant scan files to the folder

              i think if this is an smb issue, the age of the machine could possibly only run smb ver 1 where as windows 7 has smb ver2 and ver3 . this causes the smb ver1 in older machines not to work, for some reason,
              if youve turned off the 128 bit incription,allowed the folder / network sharing/ your on the right workgroup,admin pwd is correct then i have had to use this solution

              Here is something I found on another site that got SMB scanning to work on 1 windows 7 pro pc. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on any others. It is a registry change if you have the gusto.

              Copy and paste this into a new notepad document:

              Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
              (not this above,just this below)
              [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters]
              "SMB2"=dword:00000000
              [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters]
              "SMB3"=dword:00000000

              save as smboff.reg.

              Run smboff.reg.

              This disables SMB 2 & 3. Give it a try and let me know your success.

                sorry, you need this not the one before, it has to have the windows registry line in it...

                Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters]
                "SMB2"=dword:00000000
                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters]
                "SMB3"=dword:00000000

                  registry changes.pdf
                  This has worked for me.
                  I always use the copier control panel to find the folder.
                  Why do they call it common sense?

                  If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

                    And that qualified tech can be sure the machine has the current firmware installed. If this is what I think it is, it's from the B147 family and there is an smb issue that firmware corrects. No firmware is not something an end user can do.
