Windows server 2003 and km 4035 kx driver and scan to pc (server went into spasms)

I installed kx print driver and shared it... all went well...
setup scan to pc... all went well...
an hour later customer lost internet...
checked server... letting scanner file utility and addressbook through firewall... disabled internet...
    got internet back...
log in time went from 10 seconds to 30 minutes... computers on network became sluggish to downright catatonic... unable to see server or shared folders... or printers...

long story short... removed printer driver and scanner utilities and server went back to normal..
can someone explain to me what just happened?

why did the shared print driver and the scanner utilities just about put a 2003 32 bit server into seizure...???

I did something sort of similar in our office. We wanted to use a Samsung 6322DN with all it's functionality so naturally I chose the "Express" driver install. I'm not sure what all it installed ... until our server came to a screeching halt.

"I just installed a print driver ... " was my explanation. With Samsung drivers I now/always use the "Custom" driver install, and deselect everything but the driver itself.

It was nearly three days later that the server was back to full speed. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
