Trying to netork a canon 5185

I`m a toshiba guy but a customer asked to network a canon 5185 to their windows network. I`m not sure if I need a password to get to admin and change ip.
Also setup scanning. Where do I go to in put ip info is there a manual for this. Toshiba`s are really easy with the network setup for scan & print.

The default admin credentials are "7654321", pass "7654321".. On that machine, you'll have to hit Login, punch those credentials in, then that will unlock previously hidden menus in System Settings ( ie Network ). If my memory serves me correctly, on that model it will display System ID, System PIN aka username/password.. tomato, tomatoe

To find an IP to assign that machine, get to a customer's computer thats hooked in to the network, type cmd in the search box, then type ipconfig /all in the command prompt.. Record the IP info for the adapter (ensure its the right network adapter ie if its hooked in via Ethernet, look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection) Next, based on this info, type ping "x.x.x.222" for example, and if you dont get a reply or you get Destination Unreachable, this usually means the address is free to use..

After that, plug the IP into the device, reboot it, and you should be able to hit the web interface by typing http://deviceIP/ so you could setup scanning..

Hit me up on Monday if you got more questions, I'll look for a similar Canon model laying round the office so I can confirm the exact menu mapping.

HA you typed "netork". One of my supervisors mistypes alot, don't worry, I laugh at him too. My favorite? "fairys" instead of "fierys" lol

My personal favorite was whorehouse in place of warehouse. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That person gave you instruction for an advanced not a regular. Its in additional functions under network. you turn that one on. Then the IP address will open up.You can use DHCP to grab a blank address(don't forget to turn it off after you get one) or use the one provided by the IT person.Reboot the machine.I'll get more detailed info on monday.
