Hi I have done various courses regsrding networking...
Pdi + This covers mostly copier concepts and a little IT knowledge.
A+ This is more Pc based servicing with a little bit of cabling etc.
N+ Is more networking basics and probally better to have than the top 2 and more relevant to the jib although in depth.
CCNA even more indepth but even better to have.
Microsoft MTA Again good to have.
All of the above dont realy go into scan set up etc. (not that I can remember anyway).
Out of them all though I found the Ricoh networking course more beneficial and more suited to our job role, but this wont get you a recognised certificate. though.
    Depends what you want.
Comptia is not as recognised as cisco or microsoft.
    Hope this helps, good luck

A good place to start would be the manufacturers on line training. They will usually cover scanning for their respective brands.

You can find LOTS of information in manuals.

A lot of us have just been thrown under the bus. We start out knowing just a little, then learn a trick or two along the way. After a while you can string together a few tricks and give the appearance of knowing what you're doing in uncomplicated installations.

If you keep on asking questions and learning wherever you can you can eventually become competent. Someday I hope to get there. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Most of us started out not knowing anything about networking and were then forced into learning.

One of the most beneficial things you can do is to play around with copiers within your own network. Change settings and see how they effect the machine and network.

Usually you will have to stuff something up to then be able to learn. This is how I started in computers by stuffing up the family computer and then being told that since I broke it, I would have to fix it or pay for someone to fix it. 16 years later, I still don't know everything, but I am proficiant in quite a lot of different systems.

Don't forget about your biggest assett though, THE INTERNET.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

You're in Manchester? I could pop over one weekend if you can get access to your office and show you some stuff for a couple of hours. Alternatively I could do some stuff over the phone using remote access.

Yes, the Ricoh stuff's all well and good, but it tends to go to the far end of a fart and use a lot of jargon that is largely unnecessary.

Incidentally, I offer as it's good to have relationships with people outside of the area in the same line of business, not because I want to be paid! I'm mates with Tonermunkeh and we share knowledge all the time.

                PM me if you're interested.
