    Kyocera 9120dn no longer ping-able

Suffered a lightening strike (working from home) and knocked out router. Fortunately spare router and back up quickly. However, since then cannot connect to Kyocera printer. Cannot ping, see on network or login as previously. Status page prints OK.
    Following info:
    TCP/IP
    IP address is ok
    Subnet is OK
    Default gateway is OK
IP address is OK, changed to 192.168.1.18 but cannot ping this.
    Port num is 9100

However, under 10/100 connection: not detected.

So I am guessing ethernet card. However, connected up usb and seemed ok but came up with following:

    ERROR: timeout
    OFFENDING COMMAND: timeout
    STACK:
    -mark-
    /sfnts

Did a search and came up with this Leopard printing error timeout - MacRumors Forums BUT now think this is a red herring as the real issue is not even seeing the ip address on the network.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I really don't want to dump what has been a great printer for years.

    Thanks

    Michael

Have you tried to connect to the machine directly using a cross-over-cable?

      Hi Eric

I tried with 2 different cables that both worked fine with other machines and one of them was the original cable. I mention this as I have no idea if either or both cables are cross-over. Incidentally this is on a Mac network.

I phoned Kyocera who were very helpful and suggested resetting the card by removing and changing the jumper pins back and forth. However, I cannot see any on the board - have uploaded a pic I took.

Not quite sure what to do next now. Have tried usual, turning off, unplugging, re-installing drivers and so forth. Everything seems honky dory except "no 10/100" detected.

      Thanks

Assuming that the cables and the network connection are OK there could be a chance that the Main PWB is damaged by the lightning (part no. 2FJ01010).

Before you spend $1500 there a few more things that you can try, in this order:

Re-start machine. Try changing the IP to a different address, store, and re-start.
Re-load firmware. (and no, I won't give it to you. See Paul @ Just Manuals, The Internet's largest selection of manuals ~ Instant Downloads)
          =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
