Installed/Connected Printer not showing in Windows 8 Devices & Printers

Has anybody had a problem finding an installed printer in the windows 8 devices and printers listing.

In my case, I have a bizhub c35 which is connected to a single windows 8 PC. The printer can be found in the list of available printers from the print menu in any application.

I need to set it as the default printer and specify some default settings but it is not listed on under devices and printers through the control panel.

I googled it and found it to be a common occurrence, but no fixes were reported. One guy said it showed up an hour later.

Has anybody seen this and have a suggestion to correct it?

Interesting, I saw this today when installed a bizhub 223 with the latest drivers, printer installs normally, then doesn't show in devices and printer directly but does show and work properly in applications...

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

    Regards!

    A.

(as a side note, same drivers same architecture on a win 7 pro machine same office, printer shows as normal..)

I had the same thing happen when installing a Panasonic driver. The next day when I returned, it was there. Very weird. Here is a link I found on Microsofts site. Don't know if it will help, for I have not tried it.

Also, here is a link that will make Windows 8 look like Windows 7. Came recommended to me by a good source. Even saw a laptop on display at BestBuy yesterday that had it loaded on it. Sure make navigating much easier.

Let us know if you come up with a valid solution.

        Thanks for replying.

I thought I should point out that I rebooted the computer, to see if it would update the devices and printers listing, but it didn't help.

I'm crossing my fingers hoping it will magically appear. I don't need another mystery to solve at the moment.

I'll let you know if I find a solution or if it decides to list itself.

It took me about a month of putting up with having to click on the "Desktop" from the Windows 8 start screen before I found Classicshell. Works great for me!

The only thing I am still missing is Classic Windows games. If I had wanted to play Xbox games, I would have purchased an Xbox.

I have also experienced this in Windows 8.1. A newly installed KM MFP was not showing in devices and printers but you could see it i the print managemnt console.
When I checked in devices and printers a couple of days later all printers was showing up.

I've had this too. It's very frustrating especially when you want to default the driver to B/W etc. Luckily the customers I've had this issue with realise it is a Windows 8 issue and nothing to do with the print driver.

I need to ask you all one question first.....
when installing the new printer/mfp, are you using the setup portion of the driver, or are you doing a manual install?
I have done both methods with Win 8 both in the client's office and testing with my laptop.
the method that I found worked the best was by using the driver setup.exe/setup64.exe application.
for some reason if the printer was manually installed Win 8 would not see it for a day or 2.
I have come to realize that this is just another D.F. part of windows 8.

If you want to simplify setting driver defaults, use the Printer Driver Editor on downloaded drivers. It is available on the driver download page. The self extracting zip file includes the user manual in seven languages. Put the editted drivers on a CD. This is especially helpful for server installed drivers.
