Ok no worries. I don't know about Ricoh MFP's but the ones I work on can resolve host names (SMB-NetBEUI host names) locally without DNS, just like a PC can do. That being said the host names need to be in the same subnet, because a broadcast is sent out.

Sad thing is printer companies are now gradually starting to remove support and functionality for SMB/NetBEUI printing, due to it now being a legacy protocol and not many people using it. It's good for situations like you mentioned. But I suppose there is always WSD.
Anyway my apologies for going a tad off topic
...and depending on the OS used, NetBeui is by default off (can be switched on in tcp/ip settings-advanced-wins.
But as mentioned above, always try to print peer-to peer with your laptop connected straight to the mfp.Comment

i have tried all your options even using the crossover cable nothing is working out am now thinking of ordering a new printer board as a last optionComment
