Can you ping the IP address of the Canon? If not, check the network connection to the Canon.

I went to ping it and noticed the ip was different, I got both of them the same the mac said the printer was ready but the software was installed incorrectly. I listened to some bad advice and deleted everything canon, and now I can't find the operating software. I looked for the discs for this machine and can't find them. I suspect that you guys can help me through this.

Image Runner C3380i right? Try this link. If you didn't purchase the Postscript license for your copier then use the UFRII driver as it doesn't need any extra addon.

        Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : Color imageRUNNER C3380i

Before installing this driver you may want to remove any remains of the old driver. From the print settings in systems preferences remove the canon printer in the list if you have one there. Then remove the any driver files. I'm not a mac person, in fact I dislike them but I think the print driver files reside in "library>printers" folder which you should be able to get to from the "Finder". I seem to remember in "library>printers" there maybe a subfolder called "canon". The driver files are usually named with the model number in mind.

That's the driver I downloaded yesterday after I got rid of everything canon. That's where I think I messed up was when I got rid of "everything" Canon. I took Bad Advice.

Ok so something is mucked up maybe. So let's make sure we get specific details that are possibly researchable.

What is the Mac OS version you have?

What is the exact error you get word for word when adding the printer on your mac. Maybe I can find someone else that had a similar issue and determine what they did to resolve it.

Also what is the network configuration on both the mac and the copier. Lan IP address, gateway, subnet mask. Just want to make sure the communication part is not an issue.

Instead of the canon driver you can use the generic postscript driver when you add the copier. This would allow basic printing without any extra options. But this would at least allow you to do basic printing and it would tell you that your mac can communicate with the copier. Because if this doesn't work then you have other issues besides print drivers. If the copier cannot print with a postscript driver due to the lack of a postscript license then this won't do you any good. But it would tell you if the mac could communicate with the copier. Because although you do not get a print out, the print job will still be sent to the copier but the copier will then delete it. You will see the delete print job in the status monitor on your copiers control panel.

Other than that you may need a canon authorized tech on location as they can create a support ticket with canon if needed. Or you can wipe the mac and reinstall the OS with a clean install I'm sure this would remove any troubles that linger.

A local mac guru was able to get it to print with limited abilities. it would print a composite of a job in B&W only.

I would expect this thread from one of our third world friends.

You're here in US, pick up smart phone, Google local copier company, call, pay.

Kentucky is a third world country, without telling you my whole life story, I have severe sleep apnea and we have lost almost every we have worked for over the last 35 years and we try to run the print shop out of our house and this 15 year copier was running ok until the cable guy screwed it up. I really appreciate the you guys have already given me. I wasn't always this way.

I am thinking the same which is why I asked for specifics on network configuration and if using a generic postscript driver will actually send a job because it it won't work the real driver won't either. Additional things may have changed on the Mac from the OP after the router being replaced so we have to keep that in mind too.

To the OP. I now see that you have been able to print and show that have some communication with the copier. My opinion is get a canon certified tech or wipe your Mac with a fresh install. You choose which is cheaper, less time consuming, or less of a headache. Sometimes it isn't worth fixing something that you can just erase like an etch-a-sketch. I will still help on this forum if I can offer anything.

I would like a fresh install if you have the time to guide me through the process.

All Mac's can see what kind of printer is attached, but if they don't have the printer driver they can't print.

How do I check to see where the mac sees the printer? the windstream guys was here today and can't figure out why the canon won't print from the mac. He called the place where I got the copier and they said it wasn't a driver problem that is was a network problem. I got the copier to ping to the mac, but that's all I could do.

My friend the local Mac Guru stopped by and bypassed everything and ran a usb cable and everything is working. The copier is connected directly to the Mac. I will figure out later how ti get the laser printer hooked up. Thanks for all of the help guys.
