Re: A battery powered 5 port switch
While I have yet to be in a situation that this could be necessary...still I decided to help with something that would cover the bases.
Amazon.com: ZyXEL 3-in-1 Wireless N Pocket Travel Router, Access Point, and Ethernet Client (MWR102): Computers & Accessories
That ought to cover just about any scenario. When the laptop is out of power, the amount of time the switch works doesn't matter. USB off the laptop and be done. Or one power cable to plug in.
But I can tell you that as an IT manager, you plug into my network with my blessing and you do so according to my rules. If you are legitimate, I provide what you need. I would just as soon have you on one of my computers than your own laptop exposing my network to your unsecure computer. I would have no problem taking the copier offline for you to do what you need for your own network and returning it to my network when you have completed your task...after all, the ONLY reason you are there is to work on the copier.
