Scan to stand alone netwok device

If you have a customer who wants a net-drive to use as a destination for scan to folder, advise them not to use the Shuttle Omninas KD20. They need to use either the KD21, KD22, or KS10. They are little more expensive, but they will support scan to folder. If they are looking at some other manufacturer's devices, tell them that they must get something that supports either SMB or FTP, preferably both.

I went to a customer this morning who had just installed a Shuttle Omninas KD20 network storage device. Their IT person was there trying to set up scan to a folder on it from a Lanier LD525C. When attempting to scan, a file name was created but no data was written. I called Ricoh but they were not familiar with the Omninas KD20. Since they had been scanning to a file on a computer before, we change it back until I could get some additional information. What I found searching the internet was that the Omninas KD20 does not support either SMB or FTP protocols.

I hope this saves someone else a future headache.

    Thanks for sharing slimslob. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've set up the NETGEAR NAS and they seem to do quite well!

I have a customer with the NETGEAR NAS and she says they have to reboot it each time to get the files to show up. Have you ever run into this problem with the NETGEAR NAS qbert?

hmmm.....strange. Apparently the "display" is not refreshing. Maybe when/if they have the browser or windows explorer open you should be able to hit F5 or refresh to rescan the contents of the folder to display.

If that doesn't work you might need to go to a NETGEAR NAS forum and post your issue or the device might need a firmware update. Just check around to cover your bases!

Make sure the drive is mapped to a letter first, then disable Offline Files. Control Panel > Sync Center > Manage offline files, restart the PC.

If the drive still requires a restart to see changes, try just refreshing with F5. If that works, you could make an automated schedule to refesh Windows Explorer every so often.

I have had problems a a school district where document scanned to or faxes forwarded to a folder did not appear in the folder from a workstation but did from the server. I found that if you did a folder up then clicked back on the original folder from the parent folder, the file was there. Refresh did not bring the file up,

I have found this work around to work also between sharing files between Mac & PC...the files when transferred, don't "show up", so by going one folder level up and then re-selecting the desired folder, the files are then visible.

Just a confirmation of your observation!
