Weird problem, looking for some tips. I have a Lanier MP 2553 that is unable to print or scan while on the network. Hooked up to laptop and everything works just fine, hook laptop up to network and the network is fine. For kicks and giggles I drag another MFP and try it on the network jack, it runs just fine. If it's not the copier and it's not the network or jack, what could it possibly be. I'm going back tomorrow to double check the network settings, but can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Is there a place in user tools(not service mode) to reset to defaults? I think there is, then you can start fresh. -

Re: Ricoh MP 2553
I agree with sandmanmac. Managed switch could be blocking either the IP address or the MAC address. As for machine settings, first try setting for DHCP instead of fixed IP address. If that clears the problem, trying pinging the address that it was using before as there may be an address conflict. As a last resort try clearing printer 5801-008, scanner 5801-009, and NCS 5801-011 memories. You will have to reenter all scanner and network settings. I have had to do this a couple of times when the application memory has become corrupt.Last edited by slimslob; 03-17-2015, 02:43 AM.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2553
Does the machine receive an ip address when set to DHCP
print off a config page and check that the copier does not have an access range set
if it does you will need to clear itI Used To Live To Fix Things Now i Fix Things To LiveComment

Re: Ricoh MP 2553
Can you scan a config page and post it?It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2553
Well son of a vbiklksdjf, for kicks and giggles I tried changing the Ethernet speed to "Auto: Enable 1 GBS" and lo and behold it worked. Easy fix and painless, but I sure looked stupid when their 10 year old Kyocera Mita runs on the same network with no issues or changing of any settings while our one year old copier has the IT dept. and me scratching our heads.Comment

The most difficult problem has the simplest solution.
The bitch is finding that simple solution.
Kudos for not giving up, after all it is just a machine. Why do they call it common sense?
If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 2553
Hi Ruben, could you mention some of the issues you've encountered when 1Gb is enabled?
We have it set to default as part of our pre-flight of new machines, I'd like to spot issues quickly should they arise.
Thanks,
TimNothing works quite so well that I can't totally disable it by trying to make it a little better.Comment
