Scanning to Shared folder on Windows 7 pc

    hi,

customer of ours has had issues with scanning to a folder that their IT person has setup.

I have got it to the point where the Ricoh mpc3001 scans ok - for a while, then later on it stops. Reboot the PC and it works ok again.

i have tried to pass this back to their IT but i think due to his lack of knowledge or something he doesnt think its a PC issue.

I have tried the power settings of the network card (Local Area Connection Properties, Configure, Power Management and Untick the Allow the computer to turn of this device...)

Anything else that I can try?

Exactly what kind of scanning are you doing? SMB, FTP, ... probably not Email or TWAIN. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

would the firewall not block SMB and then start blocking though?
Originally when scanning wasn't working at all, turning the firewall off made no difference.

What got it working was turning Password Protection ON under the Advanced Sharing Settings, and then rebooting the PC.

Is the customer on wi-fi? If so make sure the network he connects to is set as home/work. Occasional switch to public will disable firewall incoming traffic. Option 2 would be to put the scans folder to public folders and just make a shortcut to scans placed in Desktop.

Static IP or DHCP for the computer?

In the folder sharing under the Security tab, down at the bottom is an "Advanced" button. Open and there is a Auditing tab. Under Auditing, add the MFP user that is logging in to scan files to that folder. I have seen that not setting this function can either make or break this functionality!

Also, If they are using any kind of security software, ESPECIALLY AVG! (I DESPISE AVG!), make sure to add an exception for that folder so it is not being blocked by the security software!

Also, see if you can browse the network from the MFP and "drill down" to that computer and the scan folder located on it!

                GOOD LUCK!
