    Canon IR4570 Stapler

Guys, you steered me away from the ricoh 2045. I went back to Canon, the Canon I'm looking at is the IR4570 has only 205K on it complete with scan, print, fax, 4 paper trays, and sorter stapler, sweet buy at $1,300
only problem is the machine won't recognize the stapler, sorter trays won't go to home position, probably because of the stapler non recognition. Any thing you've seen before???

The finisher may be in "limited function mode".
The setting to turn it off is under "Additional functions>Common Settings"
Cycle the power to the machine and all should be fine.

If the finisher is in limited functions mode, there's probably a good reason.

Those finishers have problems with the trays going up and down properly.

If you can find a low volume IR2200/IR2800/IR3300 with all the same capabilities, you'd be better off in the long run.

Why do they have a problems going up and down properly?

And does the 2200 series have a different sorter?

ALL modern Canon finishers have sensitive trays...knock them or place anything in the path of the tray and you'll get an E584 error.
          It's a GOOD thing.....saves stripped gears.
If you get an E584 error the finisher will automatically go into limited function mode.
I went to an iRC4080 yesterday that was in limited function mode.
The top tray had jammed for whatever reason.
There is an unlocking mechanism built into the tray...I release the tray, reset limited function mode, cycled the power to the copier and viola...customer had their machine back.
