Canon IR 4075 ir 3045 grinding Noise

    Hi All,

Im hearing a grinding noise on my IR 4075 every Start up, and i makes noise until i start making copies.
    It grinds every 1-2 seconds.
I tried opening the upper part of the door and make copies. I found out that the Fuser / Fixing Gears are grinding.
Here's the picture of Fuser / Fixing Gears, White on the right part of the biggest gear (in contact with main gear) shows friction damage.
    IMG_20150815_164638.jpg
Here's the Picture of the gear the drives the fuser, also shows friction damages.
    IMG_20150815_164731.jpg
I tried removing the Fuser / Fixing Gears and clean it. and it makes the same noise.
    Thanks for your help.

We have the same problem, I lubricated the fuser film with silicon oil with lithium grease it's ok. Just a little crackling sound now (not all the time) but I think I have to change the gears.

I was able to solve the problem by swapping my fixing unit of my 4075 an 3045.
i found another fix, Remove and clean the fixing gears to remove grease. do this also on the gear that drives the fixing unit. (2nd picture above)
You can actually put the gear on its other side. you can do this on the fixing drive and on the fixing gears.

Re: Canon IR 4075 ir 3045 grinding Noise

After i swapped the fixing unit of my 4570 to my 3045 it was working fine for a day.
now my 3045 makes the grinding noise. so i guess it was the fixing unit of 4570.
it grinds on start up/Boot up but do not make any grinding noise while initiating or making copies.

        any suggestions?

By the way my 3045 now gives me error E000007-0000 which means the fixing unit temp was abnormally high.
i Did disassemble the fixing unit/Fuser unit once. any guess what i did wrong?

Issue completely fixed, i change the fuser/fixing film and lubricate with fuser/fixing grease and mix with silicone oil..

i don't recommend using lithium grease since it have some petroleum based element that weakens plastic..
Make sure that you didn't interchange the two plastic support on both fuser end.

very informative, I inverted both gears now and no grinding noise ever heard again. thank you so much for the information, much appreciated.

Now all good. I found another issue but fixed it right away..
My 3045 4570 have a offset finisher, when i copy with collate + Offset, sometimes the finisher missed some copies.

                Solution:
                1. Pull the finisher and remove the screws until you open the top part exposing the finisher mechanism.
                2. Lubricate gears with Silicone oil
                3. Remove the worn Foam pads on this part, you cant see it on the picture until you remove the casing of the finisher...
There's a worn foam that turns sticky and delays retraction of the finisher.
                hqdefault.jpg

the foam is placed to prevent noisy retraction. this foam eventually gets sticky and causes several jams on different parts of machine..

sometimes I really need technicians but difficult to find them at once. thanks sa info. I need it really.
I also got two IR5000 besides this two IR3750, the last has a slow performance. I'm too busy to do some fixing work.

                    Marikina

me too, i also have a job at the same time.
IR 4570 and 3045 perform lower cost per copy than IR 5000 6000+. better to buy 3045 than one IR6000+
Most copy center believe that IR 5000 6000+ esp IR 6055 have the lowest operating cost.
given the fact that one 6055 can buy you 4 units of 3045..

I think I'm one of them, I run 6,000 to 10,000 copies a day normally, and 3570 can't beat the volume especially on peak days of the month. That's why I have to get a faster machine like IR5000. I'm new to both of these, and I'm hungry to learn fast about these machines.
By the way, I'm also in need of Riso technician, I got RN 2235ui can you recommend one, I'll appreciate if you do.

i will advise you to buy Akinto AD3880 120PPM 10x14 B4 image size, 90k 12mo zero interest (7500/mo) with free 12 bottles of ink and 2 masters. lifetime service warranty.

RN2235ui only produce up to legal size. with the same speed. the only advantage of riso is cheap consumables. akinto also have compatibles just check the net.

                          Issue re-occurs:
Still getting grinding noise on fixing gears.

I guess there's something wrong with the fixing unit. i tried swapping it with another fixing unit and it runs fine.. i even tried swapping the gears and fixing regist sensor... still getting grinding noise on fixing unit. i did make sure that the screw is tight and clean the gears with soap to remove the grease but still the same... any suggestions?

i take a video of the gears running. and it seems that it is slipping and the whole fixing unit moves not just the gears..
the main fixing gear drive works fine and it is not loose..

                            Temporary Solution:

I tried removing the yellow fixing cover and run the machine while the cover is open. it keeps on grinding the fixing gears. but when i run it again while pushing the fixing unit forward the fixing unit didn't grind up. it seems the the main fixing drivegear pushes back the fixing unit even though it is tightly screwed on the copier.
it looks like a there's a fitting issue and the pressure applied by the door to the fixing unit is not enough.
Don't forget to do the initial troubleshooting above before proceeding.

                            1. I completely disassemble the fixing unit and put it back again.
                            2. I did twist the pressure torx counter clockwise 1/2 to reduce pressure between fixing gear and fixing roller. (rotating pressure torx should be the last option.)
                            3. I placed a foam between the fixing unit main frame and the yellow fixing cover to have it expand forward to apply more pressure on the fixing unit once the door is closed.

its working fine. but after several hundred copies it grinds again... it seems that the foam that it put in is now flattened
