    Canon NP 3050 Problem

The copier will no longer make letter size copies, they come out back since the light does not come on. If making a legal size copy, the light will not come on for the first 2/3 of the paper (the size of a letter copy), and then comes on and copies the last third of the paper. Can anyone help me?? Thanks

In the event of no one posting anything better I would think its the cable to the lamp.

I agree with Paul. The cable is probably broken at the clamp that holds it down. That was a common problem with those back in the day.

Without a doubt, it's the lamp/scanner cable. You can paperclip/electrical tape it but it's a temp at best. NP 2020/3050/4050 [and older 1520/3025/3325 series as well] all had the same problem, some were easy to replace, some sucked. Don't remember which was which.

yeah broken scan lamp cable . pull power from the wall first. remove glass . remove small bracket that holds down black two wire cable, this will give you more freedom of movement. move scan assy to the far right this will allow you to see the majority of the wire. you will see a break in the insulation on the back side of the wire probably right where the hold down bracket was at. show break to your customer. explain that this machine is obsolete and most parts are harder to get and they should up grade , make a sale , step up to an ir.
