[Misc] Canon IRC 2880 Fax/Phone Issues

Hi guys, new to the site and must say very informative.

I have a home office. One of my clients can only fax orders so I have plugged in the phone line (which is also connected to my home/office phone).
As soon as I get an incoming call (not fax) the 2880 answers as it thinks it is a fax.

I need to be able to receive faxes and phone calls.

Can the machine tell the difference?
How do I configure the 2880 to work in this mode?

This machine doesn't know if the incoming call is a person or fax. You will need a dedicating line for fax use. There are fax switches available if this is your only number but they are pricey.

you can also try to put more rings before the fax answers

I think is
1 select additional function then press 2 and 8 together then additional function again. This is to entry the service mode.
2 Select Fax
3 NCU
4 Select Auto RX
5 select 07 the change it to 5 rings for example ( defualt is 2)
you have set the ring to 5
exit the service mode
restart you copier.

after that If the you answer and it is a fax, you should leave the phone off the hook and go to the photocopy machine and press fax button.......press hook key .... and press start button.... I think fax is run manually.

What about setting the copier to manual fax receive, then all you need to do when you answer the phone & hear a fax tone is press fax, then start on the copier.

Also in manual mode the copier wont answer any phone calls, then when you are out of the office set the copier back to auto.
