im having an intermittent black line , pencil point thick, runs lead to trail. Pulled optics cleaned everything, mirrors ccd reflectors glass no spots. Doesnt happen with printing or from memory. May run 10k pages then show up and then go away. Lucking for ideas before I change scanner

try to show us hows the line ,as i remember you can make clear for scanner but first try to make backup for it in service mode 2

I had a similar problem on an IRA8095 recently. I found a setting in the service mode that set the sensitivity of the scanner for dust detection. I set it to the factory default which is 200, it had been set to 0. I think it was Copier}Option} Img-Rdr}df2dstl1. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Is it stream read mode using the feeder, or off the glass? I've had two devices with scan issues like this. One was a constant line and required a reader controller. Another was intermittant, though more frequent then yours, and reseating the ribbon cables did the trick.

I would try the scan glass first. I just ordered a black line preventive kit (don't have part number) and new oil glass cleaner FY9-6035-000. I have a couple of machines who scan massive amounts of old origionals. I used to go to one place every two weeks until I trained people to clean the scan glass (now go every two or three months) and have a 6255 on its third scan glass from wear marks.
