May I buy any HDD from the market to replace my Canon IR105 faulty HDD without doing any installation?.
If there is any installation, please tell me where I can download and how to setup it.

Theoretically you could buy a hdd from the supported hdd list (from *.itf file)

But you also need the firmware - which you obviously don't have.

Even if you buy the hdd from Canon - you still need to flash the firmware.

I have another working machine, so can I make acronis backup image or export the firmware to the new HDD?.
Also, where can I find the supported list of HDD's for canon IR105?.

If you take out your faulty drive & order the same model drive from eBay then reload the firmware, that is the best & cheapest solution.

You can clone one drive to another however this won't speed up the copier at all.

There is no such thing. Firmware and service tool is not for sale.Only certificied Canon company.

I am feeling nice today. There is a long list of serious technical reasons why an untrained individual cannot update or replace a drive on this system EVEN IF it was a plug and play hdd swap. There are boot rom requirements, finisher upgrade procedure and even a possible main board change required. Depends on what software the machine has right now. The list goes on and should only be tackled by someone who has access to all of the technical information with good experience.

In other words, if this machine has to run again, it would be worth flying in a trained tech that knows how to deal with it and the possibility's. Software versions already known before arrival.
End of story...really.

Bad Request has the drive but you still need a real Canon tech to do this if you want this machine to run and act right again. Dont even ask how much, you have no choice.

That's not the issue the reason is giving away firmware that doesn't belong to us. If a tech turns up replaces hard drive and firmware and charges you more than you think

I didn't take this long workaround without a reason.

I pay in my city for IR105 HDD a $1000 !!!

Is it fair to pay that much for an HDD?.

There is one on ebay.com for $235 plus shipping right now. Says it was a pulled hard drive which may mean the software is on it. Warranty for 30 days!
