    IRA 4225 Continuously Rebooting

Machine status bar goes all the way to the right, holds for a while and then machine reboots. Ordered controller but looking for other ideas in case that doesn't fix it. If I open the right side cover I will get an open cover message and it will let me get into service for about 45 seconds then it reboots on me. Thanks in advance. Bob

I had one that did that, IRA4235. Original call was it would not fax. I noticed it rebooted while troubleshooting. I wanted to try the main controller but part numbers were different so boss sent me with the Main controller on right side. Changed that board and got an error for the reader controller. There is a cable going from reader controller to controller on right side. Replaced that cable and it fixed rebooting problems and fax problems. Swapping parts off copier we had at other office. Think I had different fax in, but ended up with same boards as when problem started, just flat cable and fax unit. Don't think it rebooted with fax out while troubleshooting. It was really strange. I have had those flat cables tear but this one looked OK. I think there are two controllers, one on left back and one on right back. Think I wanted to try main controller one on left side but used but working machine had different part number so boss sent me with the one on the right. It was strange that cable fixed all problems or new fax fixed problem and flat cable was damaged unplugging. The side of flat cable on the controller was harder to disconnect than the one on the reader. Machine runs all day and I think it is in 900k range in just two years. I will be interested what you find.

Replaced controller 2 and the machine stopped rebooting but got an e732-0022. Replaced the reader ribbon cable and was back up and running. Had to put the front cover settings back in but the machine came back to life. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for posting back. My boss was right even though we did not need that board, he looked it up in the service manual and it said it controlled the fax side (right board). I must have had the same code as their is a tech pub on that code that the cable fixes. Since I switched fax out I still don't know if the fax contributed to it or not. I never needed a board and have not heard back from them in a month. Pesky cable.
