Have a customer that has a Canon c3380 that the colors are off (alignment). The tech replaced the fuser (it was bad), replace the DC controller. We did a degradation, no help. Anyone else run into this and fixed it?
Thanks
The machine performs the following 3 types of control to correct displacement of color possibly caused by differences among components of its laser scanner unit
and drum unit:
- main scanning write start correction
- sub scanning write start correction
- main scanning magnification correction control

COPIER > ADJUST > LASER >FSLUT-Y 1 to 8 correction values for partial magnification correction Y blocks 1 to 8
COPIER > ADJUST > LASER >FSLUT-M 1 to 8 correction values for partial magnification correction M blocks 1 to 8
COPIER > ADJUST > LASER >FSLUT-C 1 to 8 correction values for partial magnification correction Y blocks 1 to 8
COPIER > ADJUST > LASER >FSLUT-K 1 to 8 correction values for partial magnification correction K blocks 1 to 8 when the DC controller circuit board is replaced, the above values should be entered as per the details on the service label or on the P-PRINT label.
In LEVEL 2 SERVICE MODE >>> try a >COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR REG-CLR =Color displacement adjustment value clear
In the case that the value adjusted by color displacement control is abnormal due to some causes, clear the adjustment
value and return it to the initial state.
In the case that color displacement of YMCK occurs and it cannot be corrected, clear the adjustment value in this mode.
How to Use
1) Clear the auto registration adjustment value using this service mode.
2) Turn off/ on, or execute the following item; Auto gradation adjustment > Quick adjust.
issue looks like a cross-feed (MAIN SCAN) registration issue ( looking at the way you posted pic ) ??
not a paper feed(SUB SCAN) issue ?? which way did u put chart on glass ???
REG-CLR only usually helps in SUB SCAN direction = paper feed registration.
ITB unit, be sure to close it by pressing the 2 sealed areas{indicated on top of ITB cover} of the ITB cover simultaneously. If the unit is not closed appropriately, it may
cause the color displacement and light image.
Are your internal PG10 & PG6 Test prints good or bad ----check the shape of the registration (inside/ outside) roller, and for any
faults in the secondary transfer outside roller.
UN16: color displacement sensor A = (also serves as patch image sensor)
UN15: color displacement sensor B

I have the same issue as above, and i have noticed there are few other posts covering the same issue,
We have gone through all the same suggestions, clear reg, clear dc, clear main cont, reset laser values, and mechanically the ITB and drive Assy look good.
Has anyone found an actuall fix for this issue, as all the posts on this topic just seem to die out mid conversation.
Old tech saying_ can't tell a ITB by it's looks_:-(
Locking down ITB on this model has issues, can look perfect to the appearance, but a slight offset will cause issues.
What does your Grid Test Print look like_?
Are lines offset in both directions_?
Try running two color Grid Test prints, use different combinations.

First the free option is to update your system software, this too often gets missed.
But most likely your ITB & cleaning unit need replacing. (A visual inspection is usless)

After all else fails, do as I have done in the past and spent a little too much time on the problem and swap out a with a good working carriage assembly, very easy to do, 2 screws and pull off. Done. Good luck.

Hi Teckat,
Thanks for the reply,
Yes the Grid test pattern is offset in both directions...
we are busy stripping this machine right down today and will rebuild, will also try do things step by step so we can try identify the exact problem....

Will get back to you guys with the results......
are all Colorsoff set in both directions
sub scan==paper feed
main scan==cross feed
don't overlook the Patch Sensors & ITB/Drum Drive
Try cleaning the laser slit glass by hand. Pull out the process unit, use a flash light so you can see better,
Use a clean lint free cloth and open the laser shutter and then wipe the laser glass from the rear of the machine to the front.
Below is a photo of the solenoid and shutters that cover the Patch Sensors. To clean the patch sensors manually actuate the solenoid to open the shutters and wipe the sensors with a dry lint free cloth.
