    Canon iR3025

Hi, we just got 2 Canon 3025 copiers - without an installation manual.
All seems straight forward enough except for the fixing film? I assume that's what it is??? (A Geared roller of what seems like some filmy something)
I can't figure out how to install this. I'm starting to assume I'll need to open up the machine somewhat more than just unclipping loose panels?
I'm stuck offshore, so to get a technician out here will cost me as much or more than the copiers...
Any advise, or better yet, a copy of the installation manual will really be appreciated.

I found it: Remove the right hand side panel, take out the excess toner bottle, undo the screw that holds the drum lever in position and loosen the drum by turning the lever down. Then undo the screw that holds the fixing film dummy in place and remove it. Slide in the fixing film, redo the screw. Lock the drum again and fix the lever with the retaining screw. Replace the excess ink bottle and the side panel.
Both my copiers now copies fine. But the one's got a bug. A little while after start-up it bombs out with an error E000020-0000 and shuts down. I can make some copies and it works fine - until invariably the error screen pops up.
Anybody got some advise on this one? Or can tell me where I can get a maintenance manual?

make sure you have toner bottle in place and it is actually allowing toner to replenish machine. Oh! Oh! you forgot to do toner install in service mode.

        Deteriorated

        Thanks for the reply.
However it seems to have deteriorated through the night!
Now it does not even complete the start-up!
It boots up until the progress bar shows around 30% and then just bombs out to the error screen E000020 - 0000 with no other options but to switch off the machine????
        Please help!
If anybody could help to point me to where I could find a service manual, that would really be great. The official? suppliers can give me manuals for just about anything except the iR3025!

          1. In this case, a small piece of plastic from the toner bottle was found lodged in the developer unit auger. With the auger blocked, the toner would not properly move to the sub hopper. The plastic piece was removed and the toner in the developer unit was vacuumed out to prevent further contamination. Inspection of the toner motor drive and the auger mechanism for any foreign object damage is recommended before installing a new toner bottle.
          2. E020 when copying. The sub-hopper motor M12 would not turn on in service mode or when running copies. As a result, the developing assembly would run out of toner. Tried replacing the Hopper Assembly, Developing Assembly and DC Controller with no change.

one solution was to Replace the Controller Power Supply PCB. This PCB provides 3.3v, 5v, 13v and 24v to the DC Controller. The part number is FM2-2764-000. It is item 15, shown below, and is located behind the Accessories Power Supply.
of course look around first and see why toner is not being fed. check voltage to motor and see if it actually turns. I mark stuff with a black felt marker to see if things turn. If you have the proper power to the motor and the dc-controller is switching it ok then motor is shot or is bound up for some reason. If it is not switching the motor on then check wiring and then replace the power supply. but i would also suspect dc controller to be shot too ruining the power supply. It might be possible to remove the dc controller from the power supply if you suspect power supply to see if power supply will come on if of course it does not with dc contoller hooked up. confusing, sorry. really i think the motor or augur is stuck. look there or better yet check all dc controller connections since all it could be is a bad connection on a connector. thats it for ideas from me

            Thanks

            Thank you!
This really was a great help.
It took some searching (I do not have access to figure 15) but I eventually opened up the right panels and found the toner drive motor. And as you suggested it was not turning.I unplugged the motor and measured the power going to it when the machine started - close to 24V. Then removed the motor, disassembled it and tested it in out workshop - and it ran fine!
So I put everything back together, made sure that all connections were in place and off it went! Now the copier is working perfectly...

Another issue: (Sorry if I start abusing your help here - I still haven't found a Service manual) I've connected the copier to our network and set it up as a printer. The installation went fine - the server discovered the printer, installed the software and does not complain about anything. But when I print nothing happens! Hope you've got some more advise for me?

First question is did you select the proper driver for this. I'm not up to date on this machine but maybe its an UFR driver instead of pcl or postscript. I would reload the print driver with ufr and pcl, see which one works, or not.

Yourownfree is right, i just want to add that if you want to use the printer function, you have to install, minimum UFR II Printer Kit - S1. Get the license key and register it to your machine. And then install the proper printer driver to your pc.

                  iR3025 Printing

Do I understand correctly that the 'as bought' iR3025 does not support printing? Are you talking about a hardware kit / PC board that needs to be fitted extra before it supports printing?
I admit that I might have been fooled by the Print Job tab is displayed on the second screen and the fact that it does connect to the network and is picked up by the installation program from my server????

                    Silly

I feel really silly about this one. I've now had a look at our other copier which happens to be a iR3035N - and I had no problems getting this one to print. It is also clearly evident now that the iR3025 does not have printing functionality as is. They caught me good with the Print Job Tab available on the display! Thank you for pointing this out to me (so discreetly!)

                      Canon iR3035N emailing

Hope somebody can help with this as well...
Both our copiers now copies just fine and the 3035N prints just fine.
If I'm not mistaken again, the 3035N can also do scanning/emailing.
I've been trying to set it up to enable us to email scanned documents but no luck so far.
It scans OK - and then prints out the scan, but the emailing remains a mystery!
The copier is connected to our LAN - as is our email server (Microsoft Exchange server).
Can anybody please advise me how exactly to set up the emailing function?
Do I need to load some interface software on our server?
Currently when I try to email something it displays
                      027 email address Resending
and then after a couple of retries
                      Server not found.
The printing is done from the very same server, so the connectivity is certainly there.
                      Your assistance is highly appreciated.
